Gendang telinga disebut juga membran timpani, yaitu struktur tipis dan fleksibel yang terletak di dalam telinga bagian tengah. Gendang telinga memisahkan telinga luar dan tengah dan berfungsi sebagai penghubung antara saluran pendengaran eksternal dan internal.

Bentuk gendang telinga seperti drum. Saat suara mencapai telinga, maka gendang telinga akan bergetar untuk membantu menyeimbangkan tekanan di dalam telinga tengah agar tetap seimbang.

 

Tanda-Tanda Gendang Telinga Pecah

Gendang telinga sebenarnya cukup fleksibel, namun juga bisa pecah. Jaringan tipis ini bisa robek saat ada benda asing yang melukainya, saat telinga terbentur sesuatu, saluran eustasius mengalami iritasi atau tersumbat, atau adanya suara ledakan yang terlalu dekat.

Pecahnya gendang telinga ini biasanya ditandai dengan beberapa hal berikut:

  • Rasa sakit di telinga yang mungkin mereda dengan cepat
  • Adanya cairan seperti lendir berisi nanah atau darah keluar dari telinga
  • Gangguan pendengaran
  • Telinga berdenging (tinnitus)
  • Vertigo
  • Mual atau muntah akibat vertigo

Apa yang Harus Dilakukan jika Gendang Telinga Pecah?

Jika Anda menduga bahwa gendang telinga pecah, maka sebaiknya segera periksakan diri ke dokter. Pecahnya gendang telinga dapat menyebabkan masalah pendengaran dan meningkatkan risiko infeksi telinga. Gendang telinga yang pecah perlu mendapatkan penanganan segera untuk mencegah komplikasi lebih lanjut.

Berikut adalah langkah-langkah yang dapat dilakukan jika gendang telinga pecah:

  • Mengunjungi dokter atau spesialis THT terdekat
  • Jangan memasukkan benda apa pun untuk membersihkan atau memeriksa gendang telinga yang diduga pecah
  • Hindari memasukkan cotton bud atau benda tajam lain yang dapat menyebabkan cedera makin parah
  • Hindari masuknya air ke dalam telinga yang dapat menyebabkan infeksi atau komplikasi lainnya
  • Hindari kegiatan berisiko seperti berenang atau menyelam sebelum mendapatkan pemeriksaan dokter
  • Hindari meniup hidung saat gendang telinga pecah agar tidak menyebabkan kerusakan yang lebih serius

Pada beberapa kasus, gendang telinga yang pecah dapat sembuh dengan sendirinya dalam beberapa minggu. Sedangkan kasus yang lebih serius mungkin membutuhkan perawatan medis lebih lanjut seperti pemasangan gendang telinga palsu atau operasi untuk memperbaiki kerusakan gendang telinga.
