Pil KB adalah salah satu alat kontrasepsi yang paling banyak digunakan para wanita. Selain efektif dan mudah digunakan, penggunaan pil KB juga mudah dihentikan jika Anda ingin merencanakan kehamilan. Namun di balik kemudahan penggunaan pil KB, ada beberapa kesalahan yang sering dilakukan saat minum pil KB. Akibatnya, penggunaan pil KB menjadi tidak efektif dan meningkatkan risiko kehamilan.

 

Kesalahan yang Sering Dilakukan saat Menggunakan Pil KB

Pada dasarnya, semua alat kontrasepsi memiliki efektivitas di atas 90% untuk mencegah kehamilan. Namun jika penggunaan alat kontrasepsi tidak tepat, hal ini dapat mengurangi efektivitas alat kontrasepsi. Salah satu alat kontrasepsi yang banyak terjadi kesalahan saat pemakaiannya adalah pil KB. Dilansir dari laman Insider, berikut ini beberapa kesalahan penggunaan pil KB:

1. Anda tidak meminumnya setiap hari

Pil KB terdiri dari dua jenis, yaitu pil KB kombinasi dan pil mini. Pil kombinasi berisi hormon estrogen dan progestin sedangkan pil mini hanya berisi progestin. Kedua pil KB ini mencegah kehamilan dengan cara mengurangi atau menghentikan ovulasi (pelepasan sel telur dari ovarium atau indung telur), menebalkan lendir serviks agar sperma tidak bisa bergerak menuju indung telur, dan menipiskan dinding rahim agar tidak terjadi implantasi.

Menurut Cleveland Clinic, pil KB mampu mencegah kehamilan hingga 99% asalkan dikonsumsi secara teratur dengan cara yang benar. Jika Anda lupa minum pil KB, maka hormon akan berfluktuasi sehingga meningkatkan peluang kehamilan. Bila Anda lupa minum satu pil, risiko terjadinya kehamilan masih rendah asalkan Anda segera meminum pil saat Anda ingat. Namun, bila Anda lupa minum 2 pil atau lebih dan berhubungan intim dalam lima hari terakhir, Anda disarankan untuk meminum obat kontrasepsi darurat.

Oleh karena itu, jika Anda lupa minum pil KB sebaiknya segera minum pil KB Anda sesuai anjuran dokter. Anjuran minum pil KB yang terlambat dapat berbeda-beda tergantung dari jumlah dosis yang terlewat dan jenis pil KB yang Anda minum.

2. Anda tidak minum pil KB di jadwal yang sama

Anda mungkin selama ini mendengar mitos bahwa minum pil KB setiap hari tidaklah cukup, namun Anda juga harus minum pil KB di jam yang sama setiap harinya. Anggapan ini tidak sepenuhnya salah karena aturan minum pil KB tergantung dari jenis pil yang Anda minum.

Untuk pil kombinasi, Anda tidak memiliki aturan waktu yang ketat terkait jadwal minum pil. Anda bisa minum pil KB di jam yang berbeda asalkan tidak melewatkannya dalam 5 - 6 jam dari jadwal Anda minum obat biasanya. Namun jika pil yang Anda konsumsi adalah pil mini, maka Anda perlu memerhatikan ketepatan waktu minum pil.

Dilansir dari Planned Parenthood, pil mini memiliki jendela waktu keterlambatan yang lebih sempit. Pil mini dianjurkan diminum dalam waktu yang sama dengan hari sebelumnya, dengan rentang waktu 3 jam. Jika Anda minum lebih dari 3 jam dari waktu sebelumnya, maka Anda akan dianggap terlambat minum pil mini.

Pil mini mengandung hormon yang lebih rendah dibanding pil kombinasi. Oleh karena itu, perlu kedisiplinan dalam minum pil mini agar menciptakan level hormon yang efektif untuk mencegah kehamilan

3. Anda minum pil KB dengan obat-obatan lain

Minum pil KB relatif aman dan tidak mengganggu kondisi kesehatan Anda. Namun jika Anda sedang menjalani pengobatan lainnya, obat-obatan tersebut dapat berinteraksi dengan pil KB dan menghambat kerja pil KB. Dilansir dari WebMD, beberapa jenis obat yang dapat mengurangi kerja pil KB antara lain:

  • Antibiotik tertentu seperti rifampisin
  • Obat-obatan anti-HIV
  • Obat-obatan anti jamur
  • Beberapa obat-obatan anti kejang
  • Suplemen herbal tertentu

Untuk itu, jika Anda memiliki penyakit tertentu yang membutuhkan pengobatan tertentu, sebaiknya konsultasikan dengan dokter sebelum minum obat-obatan atau pil KB.


Pil KB merupakan alat kontrasepsi yang efektif untuk mencegah kehamilan. Namun diperlukan kedisiplinan dan ketepatan waktu jika Anda ingin minum pil KB. Apabila aturan minum pil KB dirasa menyulitkan Anda, maka sebaiknya bicarakan dengan dokter kandungan mengenai pilihan alat kontrasepsi lainnya.
