Batuk yang memproduksi dahak disebut dengan batuk berdahak. Dahak bisa muncul sebagai respon alergi, iritasi, infeksi saluran pernapasan atau masalah kesehatan lainnya.

Dari Mana Asal Dahak?

Dahak adalah cairan kental dan lengket yang menempel di bagian belakang tenggorokan. Umumnya dahak hadir saat Anda batuk atau sedang sakit tenggorokan.

Adalah selaput lendir yang memproduksi dahak yang sebenarnya bertujuan untuk melindungi dan mendukung sistem pernapasan seperti mulut, hidung, tenggorokan, sinus, dan paru-paru. Dahak ini memiliki sifat yang lengket sehingga dapat menjebak debu, alergen dan virus.

Dalam kondisi sehat, selaput lendir tetap memproduksi lendir namun dia sangat encer dan kurang terlihat. Lendir atau dahak ini menjadi lebih banyak jumlahnya saat Anda sakit atau terpapar banyak partikel, yang kemudian berubah menjadi kental agar dapat menjebak zat asing.

Cara Membersihkan Dahak Secara Alami

Melembabkan Udara

Untuk membantu mengatasi dahak berlebih saat sedang batuk, Anda perlu menjaga udara agar tetap lembap. Anda bisa menggunakan pelembap yang berasal dari humidifier yang aman dijalankan sepanjang hari.

Anda hanya perlu memastikan bahwa Anda mengganti air di dalam alat setiap hari, untuk mencegah pertumbuhan bakteri dan juga jamur. Kosongkan dan keringkan tangki apabila humidifier tidak digunakan.

 

Menjaga tubuh tetap hangat dan terhidrasi

Minum cukup cairan hangat membantu agar dahak menjadi lebih encer dan mudah dikeluarkan. Anda bisa minum teh hangat, kaldu hangat, makan sup, minum jus buah hangat, atau air lemon hangat.

Sebaiknya hindari minuman dingin dan jaga tubuh tetap hangat dengan mandi air hangat untuk mencegah penumpukan lendir di paru-paru.

 

Berkumur dengan air garam

Berkumur dengan air garam dapat membantu menghilangkan lendir di belakang tenggorokan. Berkumur dengan air garam setidaknya dua kali sehari dapat melegakan sakit tenggorokan yang juga menjadi gejala batuk.

Cara membuat larutan air garam:

  • Campurkan secangkir air hangat dengan 1/2 hingga 3/4 sdt garam
  • Gunakan air matang hangat yang dapat melarutkan garam dengan lebih cepat
  • Berkumurlah selama 30-60 detik lalu ulangi sesuai kebutuhan

 

Menggunakan minyak kayu putih

Minyak kayu putih dapat membantu mengurangi lendir berlebih di dada. Saat digosokkan di dada, minyak bekerja dengan menghangatkan dan melonggarkan pernapasan sehingga dahak lebih mudah dikeluarkan saat batuk. Pada saat yang sama, bila batuk Anda mengganggu, kayu putih dapat meredakannya.

Kapan Sebaiknya ke Dokter?

Dahak yang berlebihan atau terlalu kental dapat mengganggu pernapasan. Jika dahak membuat Anda tidak nyaman maka Anda harus memeriksakan diri ke dokter dan mendapatkan pengobatan untuk mengatasi dahak.
