Antigen kanker 125 (CA 125) adalah protein yang ditemukan dalam sel kanker ovarium. Untuk mendeteksi antigen ini perlu dilakukan tes CA 125 agar dapat mengukur jumlah antigen kanker 125 dalam aliran darah.

 

Fungsi dan Manfaat Tes CA 125

Tes CA 125 digunakan untuk memantau kanker tertentu selama dan setelah pengobatan dilakukan. Dalam beberapa kondisi, tes ini dapat digunakan untuk mencari tanda-tanda awal kanker ovarium, khususnya pada orang dengan risiko penyakit kanker ovarium yang sangat tinggi.

Tes CA 125 memiliki beberapa fungsi, di antaranya:

 

Untuk memantau pengobatan kanker

Bila Anda menderita kanker ovarium, endometrium, peritoneum atau tuba falopi, maka dokter akan meminta Anda menjalani tes CA 125 untuk memantau kondisi dan pengobatan.

 

Sebagai skrining kanker ovarium

Saat keluarga memiliki riwayat kanker ovarium atau Anda memiliki gen bawaan yang meningkatkan risiko kanker ovarium, maka tes CA 125 dapat dijadikan skrining kanker ovarium. Umumnya tes CA 125 juga dikombinasikan dengan USG transvaginal yang diberikan setiap 6-12 bulan bagi yang berisiko sangat tinggi.

Sebagai skrining kekambuhan kanker

Meningkatnya kadar CA 125 mengindikasikan bahwa kanker ovarium mungkin kambuh kembali setelah pengobatan.

Perlu dicatat bahwa tes CA 125 saja tidak cukup akurat sebagai skrining kanker ovarium karena banyak kondisi yang dapat meningkatkan kadar CA 125. Peningkatan CA 125 terkadang juga dipengaruhi oleh kondisi yang tidak bersifat kanker seperti menstruasi dan fibroid rahim sehingga tes CA 125 biasanya dikombinasikan dengan tes lainnya.

 

Prosedur Tes CA 125

Tes CA 125 adalah jenis tes darah yang dilakukan dengan mengambil sampel darah dari vena di lengan. Adapun prosedur yang dilakukan sebagai berikut:

  • Tidak ada persiapan khusus yang perlu dilakukan sebelum menjalani tes CA 125. Langkah pertama adalah membersihkan area lengan yang akan diambil sampel darahnya dengan antiseptik
  • Petugas kesehatan akan membungkus lengan dengan karet sehingga pembuluh darah membengkak karena darah dan mempermudah pengambilan sampel
  • Begitu pembuluh darah ditemukan, maka jarum suntik akan dimasukkan dan sampel darah akan diambil dan dikumpulkan dalam tabung khusus
  • Setelah sampel darah cukup diambil, jarum suntik akan ditarik dan bekas suntikan ditekan untuk menghentikan perdarahan
  • Sampel darah selanjutnya akan dikirim ke laboratorium untuk dianalisis

Hasil Tes Kadar CA 125 Tinggi, Apa Artinya?

Kadar CA 125 yang tinggi tidak selalu berarti adanya kanker ovarium atau jenis kanker lain. Namun, ada beberapa kondisi yang dapat menyebabkan kadar CA 125 tinggi, di antaranya:

  • Mioma
  • Endometriosis
  • Penyakit radang panggul
  • Kehamilan
  • Menstruasi
