Dalam budaya Tionghoa, jeruk melambangkan keberuntungan dan pembawa rezeki. Warna oranye yang cerah seperti emas diasosiasikan dengan keberuntungan. Inilah mengapa setiap tahun baru Imlek datang jeruk menjadi salah satu yang harus disajikan di rumah.

Jika menurut budaya Tionghoa jeruk membawa keberuntungan, maka menurut para ahli nutrisi jeruk memiliki banyak manfaat kesehatan. Apa saja, sih?

 

Kandungan Nutrisi Buah Jeruk

Dalam setiap 1 buah jeruk, yaitu sekitar 140 gram tersimpan kandungan nutrisi sebagai berikut:

  • Protein 1,3 gram
  • Karbohidrat 14,8 gram
  • Gula 12 gram
  • Serat 2,8 gram

Kandungan utama buah jaruk adalah karbohidrat dan air, dengan sedikit protein dan lemak sehingga buah jeruk rendah kalori. Jeruk kaya serat yang dibutuhkan tubuh untuk menjaga sistem pencernaan agar tetap sehat. Serat yang terkandung di dalam buah jeruk juga membantu menurunkan risiko penyakit jantung, kanker usus serta obesitas.

Menurut penelitian, mengonsumsi buah jeruk secara teratur memberikan serangkaian manfaat bagi kesehatan, di antaranya:

Membantu Meningkatkan Kesehatan Jantung

Buah jeruk mengandung vitamin C yang tinggi, yang dapat membantu mencegah kerusakan pada pembuluh darah dan menurunkan risiko penyakit jantung. Jeruk juga mengandung flavonoid dan asam folat yang dapat membantu menjaga kesehatan jantung.

Selain itu, kandungan kalium yang cukup tinggi dalam jeruk juga dapat menurunkan tekanan darah dan menjaga kesehatan jantung.

 

Melindungi Tubuh dari Penyakit Kronis

Penelitian menemukan bahwa kandungan vitamin C, flavonoid dan asam folat di dalam jeruk bermanfaat melindungi tubuh dari penyakit kronis seperti penyakit jantung, kanker, diabetes, arthritis, dan penyakit hati.

 

Mencegah Anemia

Jeruk mengandung vitamin C dosis tinggi yang dapat membantu penyerapan zat besi dari makanan. Zat besi adalah komponen penting dari hemoglobin yang membantu mengangkut oksigen dalam darah.

Jus jeruk kemasan mungkin juga mengandung vitamin C yang sama, hanya saja jus jeruk kemasan lebih rendah kandungan serat dan memiliki gula tambahan yang berisiko meningkatkan kadar gula darah.
