  • Bungkus dengan aluminium foil atau plastik kedap udara
  • Masukkan ke freezer, pastikan suhu freezer berada di bawah -18 derajat Celcius

Sebelum membungkus daging, tidak perlu mencuci daging terlebih dahulu karena dapat memicu pertumbuhan bakteri dan jamur yang membuatnya cepat busuk.

Saat akan menggunakan daging beku, pilih daging yang pertama kali Anda masukkan ke freezer. Tandai kemasan daging agar Anda mengetahui daging mana yang perlu digunakan terlebih dahulu.

Menurut panduan FDA, Anda bisa menyimpan daging sapi beku di kulkas selama 4-12 bulan, daging steak 6-12 bulan, sedangkan daging cincang sebaiknya disimpan tidak lebih dari 3-4 bulan. Untuk daging ayam, jika disimpan dengan cara yang tepat bisa disimpan selama 9-12 bulan. Namun untuk jeroan dan daging cincang sebaiknya tidak disimpan lebih dari 3-4 bulan.

Tips Mencairkan Daging Beku

Untuk menggunakan daging beku, Anda perlu mencairkannya terlebih dahulu. Cara mencairkan daging dapat memengaruhi kualitas dan kesegaran daging, untuk itu Anda perlu mengetahui cara mencairkan daging yang tepat.

Berikut ini beberapa cara mencairkan daging yang aman, antara lain:

 

Membiarkan daging di dalam kulkas

Cara aman untuk mencairkan daging adalah dengan mengeluarkan daging dari freezer, lalu masukkan kembali ke chiller atau bagian bawah kulkas. Mencairkan daging di chiller membantu menjaga kualitas daging agar tidak rusak. Namun cara ini membutuhkan waktu lama yaitu sekitar 24 jam tergantung dari ukuran daging. Jika Anda ingin memasak daging, sebaiknya keluarkan daging ke freezer sehari sebelumnya.

Menggunakan air dingin

Cara lain yang lebih cepat untuk mencairkan daging adalah dengan menggunakan air dingin. Siapkan wadah atau baskom berisi air dingin, lalu masukkan daging ke dalam wadah. Pastikan daging terbungkus rapat dengan plastik kedap udara atau kedap air untuk mencegah masuknya bakteri ke dalam plastik. Ganti air rendaman setiap 30 menit sekali hingga tekstur daging melunak.

 

Menggunakan microwave

Cara paling cepat untuk mencairkan daging beku adalah dengan menggunakan microwave. Namun daging yang baru saja dicairkan harus segera diolah untuk menjaga kualitas rasa dan nutrisinya. Saat mencairkan daging, Anda harus menggunakan wadah tahan panas yang aman untuk microwave. Hindari menggunakan styrofoam, karton atau plastik yanng bersentuhan dengan daging.

Setelah daging cair, sebaiknya daging tidak dibekukan lagi. Terutama bagi daging yang sudah berada di suhu ruangan selama lebih dari 2 jam.
