Bagi banyak pasangan, oral seks merupakan salah satu cara untuk mendapatkan kenikmatan seksual. Dalam melakukan oral seks, Anda bisa memiliki risiko mengalami penyakit menular seksual. Apa Itu Dental Dam?

Dental dam adalah lembaran lateks atau poliuretan tipis dan fleksibel yang umumnya digunakan dokter gigi untuk melindungi mulut pasien saat prosedur perawatan gigi. Selain digunakan dalam perawatan gigi, dental dam juga dapat difungsikan sebagai pelindung saat melakukan seks oral atau anal.

Lembaran dental dam digunakan di atas vagina atau anus sehingga menjadi penghalang antara mulut pasangan dan vagina atau anus. Dengan cara ini, Anda dapat melindungi diri sendiri dari risiko penyakit menular seksual tetapi tetap mendapatkan rangsangan klitoris.

Meski dapat meminimalisir risiko tertular penyakit menular seksual, namun dental dam tidak dapat menggantikan fungsi alat kontrasepsi seperti kondom. Jika Anda berencana menunda kehamilan, sebaiknya pilih alat kontrasepsi seperti kondom, IUD atau pil KB.

Cara Menggunakan Dental Dam

Penggunaan dental dam sangat mudah, namun untuk dapat memberi perlindungan optimal, Anda perlu berhati-hati saat menggunakannya. Cara menggunakan dental dam antara lain:

  • Keluarkan dental dam dari kemasannya dan buka lipatannya dengan hati-hati
  • Letakkan dental dam di atas vulva selama hubungan seks oral. Dental dam harus cukup besar untuk menutupi seluruh area vagina.
  • Pegang dental dam di tempatnya selama seks oral berlangsung. Anda dapat mengoleskan pelumas berbahan dasar air atau silikon di antara dental dam untuk membuat sesi berhubungan intim menjadi lebih menyenangkan. 
  • Jika dental dam rusak saat berhubungan seks, sebaiknya pasang dental dam yang baru sebelum melanjutkan hubungan seks.
  • Buang dental dam setelah selesai digunakan. 

Dental dam yang sudah dipakai untuk berhubungan seksual sebaiknya tidak digunakan kembali karena dapat memicu penularan penyakit menular seksual. Selama menggunakan dental dam, Anda juga dianjurkan menggunakan kondom untuk perlindungan lebih optimal. 

Jika Anda tidak menemukan dental dam di apotek atau toko alat kesehatan, Anda bisa membuat dental dam dari kondom. Cara membuat dental dam sendiri yaitu: 

  • Keluarkan kondom dari kemasannya dengan hati-hati, lalu buka gulungannya
  • Potong ujung kondom dan bagian dasar karet yang tergulung
  • Potong kondom secara memanjang dari ujung hingga pangkalnya
  • Letakkan kondom di atas vagina

Tips Aman Melakukan Seks Oral

Banyak orang beranggapan melakukan oral seks lebih aman jika dibandingkan dengan seks penetrasi. Namun sebenarnya seperti halnya bentuk hubungan seks lainnya, oral seks yang mempertemukan antara mulut dengan alat kelamin juga berisiko menularkan penyakit menular seksual. 

Bagi Anda yang ingin melakukan oral seks dengan aman, Anda bisa menerapkan beberapa tips berikut:

  • Gunakan kondom saat berhubungan seksual. Pastikan kondom tidak kedaluwarsa dan pemasangan serta penggunaannya benar
  • Gunakan dental dam yang berfungsi sebagai pembatas antara mulut dan vagina atau anus
  • Hindari air mani atau cairan vagina masuk ke mata
