Apa itu Pil KB Darurat?

Pil KB darurat adalah jenis kontrasepsi darurat yang digunakan untuk mencegah kehamilan setelah melakukan hubungan seks tanpa kondom atau metode kontrasepsi yang gagal. Disebut darurat artinya penggunaannya hanya di kondisi darurat saja.

Pil KB darurat mengandung hormon yang sama seperti progestin. Hormon ini bekerja dengan mencegah atau menunda ovulasi dan memastikan sperma tidak memiliki sel telur untuk dibuahi.

Pil KB darurat mengandung levonorgestrel atau ulipristal acetate. Levonorgestrel digunakan untuk mencegah kehamilan setelah melakukan hubungan seks tanpa kondom. Tetapi perlu diingat bahwa obat ini tidak melindungi diri dari penyakit menular seksual. Levonorgestrel juga tidak bekerja dengan baik pada wanita dengan berat badan tertentu misalnya lebih dari 74 kg.

Sama seperti levonorgestrel, ulipristal acetate dapat membantu mencegah kehamilan namun tidak melindungi dari penyakit menular seksual. Obat ini juga mungkin tidak bekerja pada orang dengan indeks masa tubuh lebih dari 30.

Penting untuk dicatat bahwa pil KB darurat tidak akan menghentikan kehamilan yang sudah ada. Jika sebelumnya Anda sudah terlebih dahulu hamil, maka pil ini tidak akan memberikan efek apapun.

Kapan Perlu Menggunakan Pil KB Darurat?

Pil KB darurat perlu digunakan dalam kondisi sebagai berikut:

  • Tidak menggunakan kondom saat berhubungan seksual
  • Tidak menggunakan alat kontrasepsi apa pun saat berhubungan seksual
  • Salah menghitung siklus haid dan berhubungan seksual pada waktu subur
  • Tidak menggunakan alat kontrasepsi sesuai petunjuk
  • Kondom yang digunakan sudah kedaluwarsa, robek atau terlepas di tengah aktivitas seksual
  • Pasangan tidak menarik penis tepat waktu sehingga ejakulasi mungkin terjadi di dalam
  • Terlupa menggunakan spermisida atau diafragma
  • Terjadinya ejakulasi dini
  • Baru saja mengalami kekerasan seksual

Beberapa pil KB darurat dijual bebas tanpa harus menggunakan resep dokter. Anda bisa membaca petunjuk di kemasan sebelum meminumnya.

Umumnya pil KB darurat boleh diminum sebelum atau sesudah makan. Obat ini bekerja dengan baik dan dapat mengurangi risiko kehamilan sekitar 75-99% bila diminum dalam waktu 72 jam setelah berhubungan seksual tanpa kondom.

Efek Samping Pil KB Darurat

Setelah minum pil KB darurat, Anda mungkin mengalami beberapa efek samping di antaranya:

  • Mual atau muntah
  • Pusing
  • Kelelahan
  • Sakit kepala
  • Payudara terasa lunak
  • Perdarahan di antara periode menstruasi atau menstruasi yang berat
  • Menstruasi yang terlambat
  • Kram di perut bagian bawah

Setelah minum pil KB darurat, volume haid mungkin berubah dibanding biasanya. Biasanya volumenya menjadi lebih banyak sehingga menstruasi lebih berat. Anda perlu memeriksakan diri ke dokter apabila haid datang terlambat lebih dari 7 hari atau menyadari adanya gejala penyakit menular seksual.
