Pemahaman mengenai pentingnya penggunaan alat kontrasepsi kini semakin meningkat, termasuk di kalangan pasangan muda. Jika dulu alat kontrasepsi yang banyak digemari adalah pil KB, susuk (KB implan) dan suntik, maka saat ini semakin banyak pasangan yang menggunakan KB sistem kalender. Apa Itu KB Kalender?

KB sistem kalender merupakan salah satu metode kontrasepsi alami. Untuk menggunakan KB sistem kalender, Anda perlu mencatat siklus menstruasi untuk memprediksi kapan masa subur terjadi. Jika sedang menjalani program hamil, Anda bisa menggunakan KB sistem kalender untuk menentukan kapan waktu terbaik untuk berhubungan intim. Begitu juga sebaliknya, dengan mengetahui masa subur, Anda dapat menghindari kapan waktu berhubungan intim untuk mencegah kehamilan.

KB sistem kalender membutuhkan ketekunan dalam pencatatan. Untuk membantu mencegah kehamilan, Anda dapat menghindari berhubungan seks atau menggunakan alat kontrasepsi lainnya seperti kondom di masa subur.

 

Bagaimana Cara Menerapkan KB Sistem Kalender?

Dengan KB sistem kalender, Anda perlu melakukan pencatatan secara rutin. Dilansir dari Mayo Clinic, berikut ini cara mengunakan KB sistem kalender:

1. Catat Siklus menstruasi Anda

Untuk menentukan siklus menstruasi yang tepat, Anda perlu mencatat panjang siklus menstruasi Anda setidaknya 6-12 siklus sebelumnya. Dalam kalender Anda, catat jumlah hari dari setiap siklus menstruasi, terhitung dari hari pertama menstruasi hingga hari pertama menstruasi berikutnya.

2. Tentukan Panjang Siklus Menstruasi Terpendek Anda

Setelah mengetahui jumlah hari di antara 2 siklus, Anda bisa menentukan berapa lama hari terpendek dalam 6 siklus menstruasi Anda. Anda bisa mengurangi jumlah siklus terpendek Anda dengan 18 untuk mendapatkan hari pertama masa subur Anda.

Misalnya, jika siklus terpendek Anda adalah 28 hari maka kurangi angka tersebut dengan 18, menghasilkan angka 10. Artinya, hari ke-10 dari menstruasi Anda adalah hari pertama masa subur pertama Anda.

3. Tentukan Panjang Siklus Menstruasi Terpanjang Anda

Jumlah hari siklus terpanjang Anda yang dikurangi 11 dapat mewakili hari subur terakhir dari siklus Anda. Misalnya, jika siklus terpanjang Anda adalah 35 hari, lalu dikurangi 11, menghasilkan angka 24. Maka, hari pertama siklus Anda adalah hari pertama pendarahan menstruasi dan hari ke-24 itu merupakan hari terakhir dari masa subur dalam siklus Anda.

4. Lakukan Hubungan Intim Sesuai Rencana Kehamilan Anda

Jika Anda sedang menjalani program hamil, Anda bisa melakukan hubungan intim secara optimal di masa subur. Namun jika Anda sedang tidak merencanakan kehamilan, maka Anda perlu berhati-hati ketika memasuki masa subur. Selalu gunakan alat kontrasepsi dengan metode penghalang seperti kondom untuk membantu mencegah kehamilan.

5. Selalu Perbarui Hitungan Anda Setiap Bulan

Siklus menstruasi dapat berubah setiap bulannya baik karena stres, makanan, perubahan gaya hidup atau kondisi hormon. Agar mendapatkan catatan yang akurat, Anda dianjurkan mencatat perubahan hitungan siklus setiap bulannya.

Selain metode di atas, ada juga metode kalender standar yang bisa dipakai bila siklus haid Anda sepanjang 26-32 hari. Hari 1 adalah hari pertama Anda mengalami menstruasi. Hari 1-7 merupakan hari di mana Anda tidak dianggap subur. Hari 8-19 dianggap sebagai hari dalam masa subur Anda. Hari 20 sampai akhir siklus Anda tidak dianggap sebagai masa subur lagi.

 

Apakah KB Kalender Efektif Mencegah Kehamilan?

KB sistem kalender merupakan alat kontrasepsi yang ekonomis dan mudah dilakukan. Penggunaan sistem kalender juga tidak memiliki risiko kesehatan lainnya, meskipun tidak dapat melindungi diri dari penyakit menular seksual.

Sayangnya, metode ini dianggap sebagai metode yang paling tidak efektif untuk mencegah kehamilan. Keberhasilan KB kalender dalam mencegah kehamilan berada dalam angka 76-80%. Artinya, dari 100 perempuan yang menggunakan KB kalender, ada sekitar 24 perempuan yang hamil. Jika Anda membutuhkan alat kontrasepsi dengan efektvitas lebih tinggi maka sebaiknya konsultasikan dengan dokter sebelum memutuskan penggunaan alat kontrasepsi.
