Sulit dicerna

Beras merah lebih sulit dicerna daripada beras putih. Jika Anda ingin memberikan beras merah untuk bayi, sebaiknya berikan dalam tekstur yang lembut dan sudah dilumatkan. Untuk mendapatkan tekstur nasi merah yang mudah dikonsumsi bayi, saat memasak beras merah berikan jumlah air yang lebih banyak dari memasak nasi putih. Setelah matang, lalu lumatkan nasi hingga teksturnya mudah diterima bayi. 

Risiko alergi

Mengonsumsi beras merah dapat memicu alergi meskipun sangat jarang terjadi. Kandungan protein pada beras merah dapat memicu terjadinya alergi pada bayi. Jika setelah mengonsumsi beras merah si kecil menunjukkan tanda alergi seperti ruam merah, bersin-bersin, mual, muntah dan sulit bernapas sebaiknya hentikan konsumsi beras merah dan periksakan ke dokter.
