Usai melahirkan, banyak ibu yang memilih untuk segera menunda kehamilan berikutnya. Hal ini dilakukan agar ibu dapat fokus mengurus dan merawat anak yang baru saja dilahirkan. Karenanya, banyak ibu yang segera memasang alat kontrasepsi setelah melahirkan. Namun, beberapa jenis alat kontrasepsi diketahui dapat memengaruhi produksi ASI. Lantas, apa alat kontrasepsi yang aman bagi ibu menyusui?

 

Pilihan Alat Kontrasepsi yang Aman bagi Ibu Menyusui

Menyusui sebenarnya sering disebut sebagai metode KB alami. Memberikan ASI eksklusif setelah melahirkan dapat menekan menstruasi dan kesuburan sehingga mengurangi kemungkinan untuk hamil. Namun KB alami ini tidak dapat bertahan lama. Jika Anda ingin mencegah kehamilan dalam jangka panjang tentunya Anda membutuhkan metode kontrasepsi lainnya yang aman digunakan selama menyusui.

Berikut ini beberapa alat kontrasepsi yang aman digunakan oleh ibu menyusui:

1. Pil KB

Pil KB adalah alat kontrasepsi yang berbentuk pil dan harus diminum setiap hari. Terdapat dua jenis alat kontrasepsi pil KB yaitu pil KB kombinasi dan pil KB mini. Pil KB kombinasi mengandung hormon estrogen dan progestin sedangkan pil mini hanya mengandung hormon hormon progestin.

Hormon estrogen diketahui dapat mengurangi produksi ASI, untuk itu biasanya pil kombinasi hanya diberikan sekitar 6 bulan setelah persalinan, atau ketika si kecil sudah mulai bisa mendapatkan MPASI.

Sedangkan pil mini mengandung hormon progestin yang dapat meningkatkan produksi ASI. Ibu menyusui bisa mulai minum pil KB mini setelah 6-8 minggu setelah persalinan sesuai anjuran dokter.

2. KB Spiral atau IUD

KB Spiral atau IUD adalah alat kontrasepsi berbentuk T berbahan plastik yang diletakkan di dalam rahim. KB spiral terdiri dari 2 jenis yaitu IUD hormonal yang akan melepaskan hormon progesteron (progestin) dan IUD tembaga. Kedua jenis KB spiral atau IUD ini bisa Anda pilih karena tidak mengandung hormon yang akan memengaruhi produksi ASI. Selain itu IUD juga bisa digunakan dalam jangka panjang antara 3-5 tahun sehingga memberi ibu cukup waktu untuk merawat si kecil dengan optimal.

3. KB implan

KB implan atau susuk dapat menjadi alternatif jika ibu merasa tidak nyaman menggunakan IUD atau sering terlewat jadwal minum pil KB. KB implan adalah alat kontrasepsi berbentuk tabung kecil yang mengandung hormon progestin untuk kemudian dimasukkan atau diimplan ke lengan atas. Hormon tersebut akan mencegah ovulasi sehingga meminimalisir peluang untuk hamil. Jika digunakan dengan benar, penggunaan KB implan dapat mencegah kehamilan selama 3 tahun.

4. Suntik KB

Salah satu alat kontrasepsi yang direkomendasikan untuk ibu hamil adalah suntik KB. Suntik KB merupakan alat kontrasepsi yang dilakukan dengan menyuntikkan hormon progrestin ke dalam aliran darah. Suntik KB tersedia dalam 2 jenis yaitu suntik KB 1 bulan dan 3 bulan yang bisa Anda pilih sesuai kebutuhan.

5. Metode penghalang

Sesuai namanya, alat kontrasepsi yang digunakan dalam metode ini bekerja dengan cara menghalangi masuknya sel sperma ke dalam rahim dan melakukan pembuahan. Metode penghalang ini tidak mengandung hormon yang memengaruhi ASI. Beberapa alat kontrasepsi yang bisa Anda gunakan antara lain kondom, diafragma dan kap serviks.

Untuk kondom, bisa Anda gunakan beberapa waktu setelah melahirkan setelah masa nifas selesai, sedangkan diafragma dan kap serviks dianjurkan untuk digunakan setelah 6-8 minggu setelah persalinan.

Ibu menyusui perlu memilih alat kontrasepsi yang nyaman digunakan dan tidak mengganggu produksi ASI. Setiap alat kontrasepsi memiliki kelebihan dan kekurangan masing-masing. Anda dapat menggunakannya sesuai kebutuhan dan anjuran dokter.
