Baik, perlu diketahui terlebih dahulu, bahwa pilek atau hidung mampet bisa disebabkan oleh beberapa hal, misalnya adanya peradangan pada bagian sinus/rongga-rongga sekitar hidung, infeksi virus, bakteri, atau karena adanya alergi. Sakit kepala atau rasa pusing dapat menyertai gejala pilek/hidung mampet tersebut, terlebih bila telah terjadi peradangan sinus (sinusitis atau rhinosinusitis) akibat infeksi baik virus/bakteri di bagian hidung.

Nyeri kepala atau pusing dapat disebabkan karena reaksi zat peradangan pada tubuh Anda dan mengganggu otot, saraf, serta pembuluh darah sekitar kepala, sehingga menyebabkan kepala Anda terasa pusing atau pun sakit.

Nyeri kepala yang diakibatkan peradangan sinus ditandai dengan sakit kepala bagian dahi disertai nyeri di belakang mata dan makin sakit jika Anda bergerak. Misalnya, ketika posisi kepala menunduk. Berbeda dengan gejala pusing, di mana kepala lebih terasa berputar atau melayang. Gejala ini juga dapat menyertai penyakit seperti flu, infeksi pada hidung, atau adanya penyakit penyerta lain seperti vertigo.

Penyakit seperti vertigo dapat tercetus atau timbul akibat adanya infeksi atau peradangan pada hidung. Anda perlu memerhatikan beberapa gejala berikut, seperti adanya mual dan muntah, kehilangan keseimbangan atau tidak stabil, serta perasaan berputar. 

Untuk meredakan gejala, Anda dapat melakukan beberapa hal berikut:

  • Melakukan uap hidung menggunakan air hangat 
  • Cuci hidung
  • Kompres hangat bagian kepala
  • Tidur dengan bantal yang lebih tinggi
  • Konsumsi minuman hangat
  • Apabila tidak ada alergi obat, Anda dapat mengonsumi obat seperti parasetamol yang dijual bebas untuk meredakan sakit kepala

Apabila gejala tidak kunjung membaik, segera periksakan gejala Anda ke dokter umum terdekat. Perhatikan tanda-tanda bahaya, seperti sakit kepala hebat hingga terdapat muntah menyemprot, adanya demam tinggi, serta gejala tidak kunjung membaik selama 3-5 hari dengan pengobatan yang optimal.
