Mabuk perjalanan atau motion sickness menyebabkan seseorang merasa pusing, mual hingga muntah saat berada dalam kendaraan yang bergerak. Hal ini terjadi karena gangguan proses pengolahan informasi di otak yang dialami sebagian orang.

Sebenarnya, mabuk perjalanan dapat dicegah dengan mencoba beberapa hal berikut:

  • Mencoba tidur selama perjalanan
  • Konsumsi makanan yang cukup sebelum bepergian
  • Konsumsi minuman hangat selama perjalanan seperti wedang jahe
  • Minum air putih yang cukup

Obat untuk mabuk perjalanan yang mengandung dimenhidrinat biasanya tersedia bebas untuk dibeli tanpa resep dokter dan dikonsumsi sebelum mulai perjalanan dan dapat diminum 4-6 jam sekali atau 3-4 kali per hari. Berhati-hati untuk tidak memberikan obat ini pada anak usia dibawah 2 tahun, memiliki gangguan hati, prostat serta peningkatan tekanan bola mata.

Apabila gejala mabuk perjalanan tidak berkurang serta muntah terus-menerus, maka disarankan untuk langsung mengunjungi fasilitas kesehatan terdekat.
