Varian virus Covid-19 B.1.1.529 telah hangat diperbincangkan sejak November 2021 lalu. Varian ini pertama kali dilaporkan dari Afrika Selatan ke WHO pada tanggal 24 November 2021.

Situasi epidemiologis di Afrika Selatan saat ini ditandai dengan tiga puncak berbeda yang sebelumnya didominasi oleh varian Delta. Dalam beberapa minggu terakhir, infeksi kembali meningkat tajam bertepatan dengan deteksi varian B.1.1.529. TAG-VE, sekelompok ahli independen yang bertugas untuk mengevaluasi penemuan varian baru SARS-CoV-2, melihat adanya peningkatan kasus dari varian ini di wilayah-wilayah Afrika Selatan. TAG-VE kemudian menyarankan WHO untuk menetapkan B.1.1.529 sebagai Varian of Concern (VOC) dan memberi nama Omicron.

Transmisi Omicron

Varian yang menurut CDC pertama kali diidentifikasi di Afrika Selatan ini dikatakan menyebar lebih cepat dibandingkan varian Delta. Masih belum diketahui jelas derajat keparahan gejala varian baru ini. Namun, untuk mencegah tertular dan meningkatnya transmisi, maka CDC menghimbau melakukan beberapa hal berikut.

Apabila Anda Sudah Melengkapi Dosis Vaksin

  • Anda tetap dapat menjalani aktivitas seperti biasa dengan tetap mematuhi protokol kesehatan, terutama menggunakan masker saat berkegiatan di ruang tertutup dan berisiko tinggi.
  • Menggunakan masker yang menutup seluruh bagian hidung dan mulut ketika menggunakan transportasi publik
  • Melakukan tes laboratorium apabila Anda berkontak langsung dengan orang yang memiliki gejala Covid-19 terutama 3-7 hari setelah terpapar, walaupun tidak ada gejala yang muncul pada Anda
  • Melakukan karantina mandiri dan menggunakan masker di dalam ruangan apabila melakukan kontak langsung dengan orang yang memiliki gejala Covid-19 sembari menunggu hasil tes Anda keluar
  • Jika Anda bergejala maka lakukan tes dan lakukan karantina mandiri

Apabila Anda Belum Divaksin

  • Dapatkan vaksin sesegera mungkin di fasilitas kesehatan terdekat
  • Gunakan masker yang menutupi hidung dan mulut dengan baik, terutama saat melakukan kegiatan di ruangan tertutup dan di tengah keramaian walaupun berada di ruang terbuka
  • Apabila Anda tidak bisa mendapatkan vaksin karena memiliki riwayat kesehatan tertentu, selalu gunakan masker saat berkegiatan dan ikuti info terbaru dari penyedia layanan kesehatan

Apabila Anda Bergejala

  • Apabila gejala yang Anda rasakan ringan, sebaiknya lakukan karantina mandiri di rumah, jaga cairan tubuh agar tidak dehidrasi, beristirahat cukup dan mengonsumsi paracetamol bila diperlukan.
  • Bila gejala Anda ringan, lakukan isolasi mandiri selama 10-14 hari sejak terkonfirmasi positif, hindari menggunakan transportasi publik, dan terus berkonsultasi secara berkala dengan dokter terutama bila Anda mengalami problem pernapasan.
  • Saat memiliki gejala Covid-19, sebaiknya Anda memiliki ruangan khusus tersendiri dan meminta anggota keluarga lain untuk menjaga jarak.
  • Monitor gejala Anda dan ikuti instruksi tenaga kesehatan yang memonitor Anda.

Cari Pertolongan Medis Segera Apabila:

  • Anda mengalami kesulitan bernapas
  • Ada rasa sakit atau tekanan di dada yang tak kunjung hilang
  • Tidak mampu bangun atau tetap terjaga
  • Kulit terlihat keabuan, pucat, bibir kebiruan

Selain menggunakan masker, selalu cuci tangan dengan air bersih dan sabun setidaknya selama 40 detik atau gunakan hand sanitizer dengan kandungan 60% alkohol di seluruh permukaan tangan. Hindari menyentuh mata hidung dan mulut saat belum mencuci tangan. Apabila Anda memiliki gejala setelah melakukan perjalanan keluar kota, keluar negeri atau setelah melakukan kontak dengan orang yang berisiko tinggi, lakukan tes dan hubungi satgas di lingkungan rumah Anda.
