Di tengah masa pergantian musim dari musim hujan ke musim panas atau sebaliknya, banyak orang mengalami flu atau pilek. Meskipun sering dianggap sama, namun baik flu dan pilek sebenarnya adalah dua penyakit yang berbeda. Flu disebabkan oleh virus influenza, sedangkan pilek sebenarnya adalah sebutan untuk common cold yang umumnya dipicu oleh rhinovirus. Biasanya, baik flu dan pilek dapat diredakan dengan obat, namun bisakah kedua penyakit ini diatasi dengan pengobatan alami?

 

Pengobatan alami untuk flu dan pilek

Flu atau influenza disebabkan oleh virus influenza. Beberapa gejala flu yang banyak dialami di antaranya demam, sakit kepala, hidung tersumbat, batuk kering, badan lelah dan nyeri otot. Sedangkan pilek atau common cold umumnya ditandai dengan hidung beringus atau tersumbat, bersin-bersin, batuk dan tidak enak badan. Baik flu dan pilek sama-sama membuat badan terasa lemas dan tidak bertenaga. Untuk mengatasinya, Anda bisa mencoba beberapa pengobatan alami berikut seperti dilansir dari Healthline:

1. Penuhi kebutuhan cairan tubuh

Saat flu, penting bagi Anda untuk memenuhi kebutuhan cairan tubuh. Tubuh yang terhidrasi dapat membantu menjaga hidung, mulut dan tenggorokan tetap lembap. Kondisi ini juga dapat membantu meringankan tumpukan lendir dan dahak yang membuat hidung dan tenggorokan tidak nyaman.

Untuk itu, Anda perlu memenuhi kebutuhan cairan dengan mengonsumsi air putih, air kelapa, jus buah segar, kaldu, dan teh herbal. Anda juga dapat mengonsumsi buah yang memiliki banyak kandungan air seperti semangka dan melon untuk membantu tubuh tetap terhidrasi.

2. Makan dan minuman hangat

Mengonsumsi makan dan minuman hangat membantu melegakan pernapasan dan meringankan gejala flu dan pilek. Beberapa makanan yang direkomendasikan di antaranya sup kaldu hangat, sup ayam, teh herbal, teh madu jahe. Namun hindari memberikan madu untuk anak yang berusia di bawah 1 tahun karena dapat menyebabkan gangguan pencernaan.

3. Terapi uap

Terapi uap merupakan salah satu cara efektif untuk meredakan gejala flu dan pilek di rumah. Caranya, panaskan air hingga mendidih, lalu biarkan hingga hangat. Setelah hangat, tuang ke dalam wadah atau panci besar. Anda dapat menambahkan minyak kayu putih atau obat inhalasi ke dalam air tersebut lalu hirup hingga uap hangatnya hilang. Untuk menjaga agar uap panas tidak cepat menguap, Anda bisa menggunakan handuk untuk menutupi kepala Anda saat menghirup uap dari wadah.

4. Kumur dengan air garam

Bagi Anda yang mengalami gejala flu dan pilek berupa batuk-batuk dan tenggorokan tidak nyaman, cobalah untuk mengatasinya dengan kurmur air garam. Caranya mudah, Anda hanya perlu melarutkan 1/2 sendok garam ke dalam secangkir air hangat, lalu kumur hingga ke tenggorokan selama beberapa menit. Lakukan sebanyak 3-4 kali dalam sehari hingga tenggorokan terasa nyaman. 

5. Minum minuman probiotik

Probiotik adalah bakteri dan ragi baik yang ada di dalam tubuh dan membantu menjaga sistem imun tubuh tetap sehat. Sebuah penelitian menyebutkan bahwa mengonsumsi probiotik secara rutin dapat mengurangi risiko sakit dan dan infeksi saluran pernapasan atas. Anda bisa mengonsumsi yogurt sebagai asupan probiotik sehari-hari. Yogurt juga mengandung kalsium dan protein yang baik untuk meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh.

 

Beberapa pengobatan rumahan di atas dapat mengatasi gejala flu dan pilek. Namun jika gejala flu dan pilek tak kunjung mereda maka sebaiknya segera periksakan ke dokter. Umumnya dokter akan meresepkan obat seperti dekongestan dan antihistamin untuk meredakan hidung tersumbat dan bersin-bersin.
