Cara Kerja Suntik KB

Sesuai namanya, suntik KB adalah alat kontrasepsi yang diberikan dengan cara menyuntikkan hormon ke aliran darah. Suntik KB umumnya terdiri dari 2 jenis, yaitu suntik KB 3 bulan dan suntik KB 1 bulan. Suntik KB 3 bulan berisi hormon porgestin, sedangkan suntik KB 1 bulan berisi kombinasi hormon estrogen dan progestin.

Secara umum, tidak ada perbedaan cara kerja suntik KB 1 bulan dan 3 bulan. Suntik KB mengandung hormon kehamilan yang membantu menghambat kehamilan dengan cara:

  • Mencegah ovulasi atau pelepasan sel telur
  • Mengentalkan lendir leher rahim sehingga sel sperma sulit berenang
  • Menipiskan dinding rahim sehingga mengurangi kemungkinan perlekatan sel telur pada dinding rahim

Dilansir dari Planned Parenthood, suntik KB merupakan alat kontrasepsi yang efektif untuk mencegah kehamilan hingga 99% jika dilakukan secara rutin dan tepat waktu. Namun jika Anda lupa atau terlewat dan melakukan hubungan seks tanpa kondom, maka peluang untuk kehamilan akan tetap ada.

 

Bolehkah Berhubungan Seks Setelah Suntik KB?

Suntik KB bisa diberikan baik ketika Anda mengalami menstruasi maupun tidak. Namun hormon dalam suntik KB membutuhkan waktu beberapa hari agar efektif mencegah kehamilan.

Dilansir dari NHS, jika Anda mendapatkan suntik KB pada 5 hari pertama siklus menstruasi, maka hormon dapat segera berkerja dan melindungi Anda dari kehamilan. Tetapi jika Anda mendapatkan suntik KB di luar waktu menstruasi, hormon akan bekerja optimal dalam waktu 7 hari. Selama periode tersebut, jika Anda ingin melakukan pencegahan kehamilan yang optimal maka sebaiknya gunakan kondom saat berhubungan seksual.

Efek Samping Suntik KB

Suntik KB mengandung hormon progestin dan estrogen yang akan memengaruhi kondisi tubuh. Beberapa efek samping suntik KB yang mungkin terjadi antara lain:

  • Menstruasi yang tidak teratur
  • Sakit kepala
  • Mudah gelisah, cemas dan gugup
  • Depresi
  • Muncul jerawat
  • Perubahan nafsu makan yang menyebabkan penambahan berat badan
  • Perdarahan
  • Menurunnya gairah seksual
  • Badan terasa lemas

Efek samping paling banyak dirasakan adalah perubahan siklus menstruasi. Untuk mengembalikan siklus menstruasi seperti semula, terkadang membutuhkan waktu 3-4 bulan setelah lepas suntik. Pada beberapa orang, kondisi ini bisa berlangsung hingga 10 bulan. Oleh karena itu, jika Anda merencanakan kehamilan segera setelah lepas suntik KB maka sebaiknya konsultasikan terlebih dahulu ke dokter.

Suntik KB merupakan salah satu alat kontrasepsi yang terjangkau dan mudah digunakan. Selain itu suntik KB juga relatif aman digunakan bagi Anda yang tidak bisa menggunakan alat kontrasepsi yang mengandung hormon estrogen.
