Ketika Anda menunjukkan adanya tanda atau gejala penyakit jantung koroner atau aritmia (irama jantung tidak normal), maka dokter akan merekomendasikan Anda untuk menjalani tes stres EKG. Seperti apa tes stres dilakukan dan apa saja manfaatnya?

 

Mengenal Tes Stres EKG

Tes stres EKG adalah tes yang dilakukan untuk menunjukkan bagaimana jantung bekerja selama aktivitas fisik dilakukan. Olahraga umumnya membuat jantung akan memompa lebih keras dan lebih cepat, dengan cara ini, dokter bisa mengetahui apakah ada masalah dengan aliran darah di dalam jantung Anda.

Tes stres EKG biasanya dilakukan dengan berjalan di atas treadmill atau mengendarai sepeda statis. Inilah mengapa tes ini disebut tes stres. Dokter akan menilai respon Anda terhadap beban yang diberikan, dengan mengukur:

  • Tekanan darah
  • Denyut jantung
  • Kadar oksigen 
  • Aktivitas listrik jantung
  • Seberapa kuat jantung bekerja 

Dokter akan melihat semua informasi yang dikumpulkan untuk kemudian mengetahui apa masalah yang sedang Anda alami.

Tes stres EKG cukup aman dijalani, dan selama ini dilaporkan hanya sedikit orang yang mengalami komplikasi. Saat prosedur tes dijalankan, biasanya ahli fisiologi olahraga dan ahli jantung akan hadir untuk menilai kinerja, data serta gejala dan memberikan perawatan darurat apabila diperlukan.

Anda juga akan diberi pilihan untuk menghentikan tes stres kapan saja jika Anda merasa tidak nyaman atau mengalami keluhan tertentu.

 

Manfaat Menjalani Tes Stres EKG?

Anda mungkin akan membutuhkan tes stres EKG apabila dokter mencurigai adanya risiko masalah pada jantung. Berikut adalah manfaat dan alasan mengapa Anda membutuhkan tes stres EKG.

  • Untuk membantu mendeteksi masalah bila memiliki detak jantung yang tidak teratur
  • Untuk mengetahui apakah aliran darah di jantung cukup saat Anda melakukan aktivitas yang berat
  • Untuk mendeteksi masalah bila mengalami gejala seperti nyeri dada atau kesulitan bernapas yang berhubungan dengan jantung
  • Untuk mengetahui olahraga yang aman untuk dilakukan, terutama bila Anda sudah mengalami masalah jantung
  • Untuk mengetahui apakah pengobatan penyakit jantung telah bekerja
  • Untuk mengidentifikasi detak jantung yang abnormal
  • Untuk mengetahui apakah Anda memerlukan tes lain seperti pemeriksaan koroner angiogram untuk mendeteksi penyempitan pembuluh arteri

 

Persiapan Sebelum Menjalani Tes Stres EKG, Apa Saja?

Saat menjalani tes Anda akan diminta berjalan dengan kecepatan tertentu di atas treadmill atau mengendarai sepeda statis. Perlahan kecepatannya akan ditingkatkan.

Tubuh Anda akan dihubungkan dengan monitor yang merekam detak jantung Anda, sehingga dokter bisa mengamati aktivitas kelistrikan jantung. Dokter juga mungkin meminta Anda bernapas di dalam sebuah tabung selama beberapa menit.

Tes stres EKG umumnya memakan waktu sekitar 1 jam lamanya, mulai dari waktu persiapan hingga perekaman data. Adapun persiapan yang perlu dilakukan sebelum menjalani tes stres EKG di antaranya:

  • Melaporkan jenis obat yang diminum, termasuk obat yang dibeli tanpa resep, obat herbal dan juga suplemen. Diskusikan dengan dokter kapan harus berhenti mengonsumsi obat atau suplemen sebelum menjalani tes stres EKG
  • Tidak makan dan minum apapun (kecuali air putih) 4 jam sebelum tes dilakukan
  • Tidak makan dan minum apapun yang mengandung kafein 12 jam sebelum tes dilakukan
  • Gunakan pakaian yang nyaman untuk berolahraga, yang tidak terlalu ketat dan longgar
  • Gunakan sepatu yang nyaman dan tidak licin sehingga Anda dapat bergerak bebas

Kapanpun Anda merasa tidak nyaman pada lengan atau dada, merasa sesak napas, pusing, berkunang-kunang atau muncul gejala tidak biasa Anda bisa meminta untuk berhenti.

Tes stres EKG adalah metode untuk mengevaluasi fungsi dan aliran darah di jantung. Ada banyak alasan mengapa Anda perlu melakukan tes ini, seperti menilai gejala penyakit jantung dan pengobatan yang sedang dijalani.
