Hemoglobin atau Hb adalah zat pemberi warna merah dalam darah yang berfungsi mengikat oksigen dalam darah dan mengedarkannya ke seluruh tubuh. Ketika kadar hemoglobin kurang, tubuh berisiko kekurangan oksigen sehingga membuat Anda sering merasa mudah lelah dan lemas. Untuk mengembalikan kadar hemoglobin ke batas normal, Anda bisa mengonsumsi makanan dan minuman yang berkhasiat meningkatkan hemoglobin.

 

Apa Itu Kadar Hemoglobin Rendah?

Hemogloin merupakan salah satu komponen dalam sel darah merah yang berfungsi mengikat oksigen dalam darah lalu mengedarkannya ke seluruh tubuh. Hemoglobin juga bertugas mengikat karbon dioksida untuk kembali ke paru-paru dan selanjutnya diembuskan ke keluar tubuh.

Kadar hemoglobin normal berbeda antara pria dan wanita. Pada pria dewasa, kadar hemoglobin normal berkisar antara 13-17 g/dL, sedangkan pada wanita dewasa kadar hemoglobin normal berkisar antara 12-15 g/dL. Ketika kadar Hb Anda berada di bawah rentang tersebut maka dapat dikatakan kadar Hb Anda rendah.

Beberapa penyebab kadar hemoglobin rendah dapat bermacam-macam, antara lain:

  • Kekurangan gizi
  • Kehamilan
  • Kehilangan darah akibat cedera atau perdarahan
  • Kelainan darah seperti sel darah merah lebih cepat mati daripada kemampuan tubuh untuk menggantikannya
  • Penyakit kronis akibat penyakit ginjal kronis, sirosis, kanker, hipotiroidisme
  • Tubuh tidak dapat menyerap zat besi

Makanan yang Dapat Meningkatkan Hemoglobin

Untuk meningkatkan hemoglobin, dokter akan melakukan pemeriksaan untuk mengetahui penyebab rendahnya kadar hemoglobin dalam darah Anda. Apabila penyebab hemoglobin rendah disebabkan oleh penyakit kronis, dokter akan melakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan dan penanganan terbaik pada kondisi tersebut. Jika rendahnya hemoglobin disebabkan oleh kehamilan, dokter dapat merekomendasikan Anda untuk mengonsusmi makanan yang dapat meningkatkan hemoglobin.

Zat besi berfungsi meningkatkan produksi hemoglobin, yang juga membantu membentuk lebih banyak sel darah merah. Kadar zat besi yang rendah dapat mengakibatkan rendahnya kadar sel darah merah yang menyebabkan tidak cukupnya oksigen yang diangkut ke seluruh tubuh.

Beberapa makanan kaya zat besi yang bisa dikonsumsi untuk meningkatkan hemoglobin, antara lain:

  • Daging, ikan, dan unggas
  • Daging organ (jeroan)
  • Kacang polong
  • Kacang-kacangan dan biji-bijian
  • Telur
  • Sayuran berdaun hijau, seperti kangkung dan brokoli

Untuk memaksimalkan penyerapan zat besi pada tubuh, Anda juga bisa mengonsumsi makanan yang mengandung vitamin C, vitamin A dan betakaroten. Beberapa jenis makanan tersebut, antara lain:

  • Buah-buahan seperti jeruk, stroberi, pepaya, jambu, anggur, mangga

Makanan yang kaya akan folat

Folat adalah salah satu jenis vitamin B yang berperan penting dalam produksi hemoglobin. Tubuh menggunakan folat untuk memproduksi heme, komponen hemoglobin yang membantu membawa oksigen. Sel darah merah tidak akan bisa matang jika seseorang tidak mendapat asupan folat yang cukup. Hal ini dapat menyebabkan anemia defisiensi folat dan kadar hemoglobin rendah.

Beberapa sumber folat yang baik meliputi:

  • Bayam
  • Kacang-kacangan, misalnya kacang merah
  • Buah-buahan
  • Biji-bijian utuh
  • Biji bunga matahari
  • Telur
