Manfaat Teh Hijau bagi Kesehatan 

Teh hijau merupakan minuman herbal paling populer sejak masa peradaban Cina dan India. Dalam pengobatan tradisional, minuman ini telah lama digunakan untuk mengatasi berbagai masalah kesehatan seperti mengendalikan perdarahan, menyembuhkan luka, hingga menjaga kesehatan mental. Berikut ini beberapa manfaat teh hijau jika ditinjau dari penelitian modern:

Hasil pada beberapa penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa katekin pada teh hijau dan kafein dapat membantu meningkatkan metabolisme energi sehingga membantu menurunkan berat badan. Berdasarkan data, penurunan berat badan terjadi akibat kandungan polifenol yang dapat mempercepat mekanisme penurunan berat badan jika dikombinasikan dengan kafein.

Metode ini diklaim lebih efektif untuk membakar lemak dan menurunkan berat badan jika dibandingkan dengan efek dari kafein saja.

Mendukung fungsi otak

Menurut American Heart Association, studi menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi teh hijau disertai dengan diet yang sehat bagi jantung dapat meningkatkan fungsi otak. Kandungan L-theanine, asam amino pada teh hijau diketahui dapat meningkatkan fungsi otak dengan menguatkan daya ingat dan mengurangi kecemasan.

Sebuah penelitian di tahun 2012 mengungkapkan bahwa orang yang mengonsumsi 100 mg L-theanine membuat kesalahan lebih sedikit dalam mengerjakan tes perhatian jika dibandingkan dengan kelompok yang tidak mengonsumsi. Minum 50 mg kafein atau mengombinasikan L-theanine dan kafein juga dapat meningkatkan fokus seseorang.

 

Menjaga kesehatan jantung dan mencegah stroke

Dilansir dari WebMD, sebuah studi di Jepang yang dilakukan selama lebih dari 11 tahun pada 40 ribu orang dewasa menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi teh hijau setiap hari dapat menurunkan risiko kematian akibat penyakit kardiovaskular.

Penelitian lain di Jepang juga mengungkapkan bahwa responden yang mengonsumsi teh hijau lebih banyak sering dikaitkan dengan risiko stroke yang lebih rendah. Beberapa responden yang minum 4 cangkir per hari diketahui memiliki risiko stroke lebih rendah dibandingkan responden yang minum kurang dari jumlah tersebut.

Menjaga kadar gula darah

Teh hijau juga dipercaya mampu menjaga kadar gula darah. Sebuah tinjauan di tahun 2020 menyebutkan bahwa konsumsi teh hijau dapat menurunkan kadar gula darah atau insulin dalam jangka waktu lama.

Sebuah penelitian tahun 2021 di Cina juga menunjukkan hasil penurunan risiko kematian akibat diabetes tipe 2 hingga 10% pada orang yang mengonsumsinya setiap hari.

 

Menjaga kesehatan kulit

Teh hijau mengandung senyawa antioksidan, antiperadangan dan antimikroba yang membantu untuk mengatasi jerawat dan kulit berminyak. Teh hijau juga mengandung polifenol yang bermanfaat untuk mencegah masalah kulit akibat sinar UV seperti kanker kulit melanoma maupun nonmelanoma dan photoaging.

 

Minuman teh hijau memiliki berbagai manfaat bagi kesehatan. Namun mengonsumsi teh hijau sebaiknya tidak berlebihan karena dapat menyebabkan sensitivitas pada kafein, kerusakan hati dan kekurangan zat besi. Menurut FDA, sebaiknya batasi konsumsi teh hijau hingga maksimal 400 mg per hari atau setara dengan 10 cangkir per hari.
