ASI (Air Susu Ibu) adalah makanan terbaik bagi bayi berusia 0-6 bulan. Gaya hidup Ibu seperti pola makan dan kecukupan istirahat dapat memengaruhi produksi ASI bagi si kecil. Gaya Hidup yang Memengaruhi Produksi ASI (Air Susu Ibu)

Kurangnya produksi ASI sering kali menjadi kekhawatiran ibu baru. ASI merupakan sumber makanan terbaik bagi bayi hingga usia 6 bulan. Setelah 6 bulan ke atas, ibu bisa memberikan ASI dan MPASI (Makanan Pendamping ASI) untuk memenuhi kebutuhan gizi bayi.

Produksi ASI yang sedikit bisa disebabkan oleh banyak faktor, mulai dari perlekatan yang kurang sesuai hingga gaya hidup ibu. Beberapa gaya hidup ibu yang sering memengaruhi produksi ASI antara lain:

Diet terlalu ketat

Selama hamil, ibu hamil mengalami kenaikan berat badan yang terkadang membuat ibu tidak percaya diri. Usai melahirkan, banyak ibu yang melakukan diet ketat demi kembali ke berat badan semula.

Pengaturan pola makan ketat seperti hanya makan buah dan sayur serta mengurangi asupan protein, lemak dan karbohidrat, serta memangkas jam makan dapat menyebabkan kebutuhan gizi bayi dari ASI tidak tercukupi dengan baik. 

Jika ibu ingin menurunkan berat badan, sebaiknya lakukan dengan cara sehat seperti olahraga rutin dan menjaga pola makan gizi seimbang serta hindari diet ketat.

Kurang minum air putih

Selain memerhatikan pola makan, kecukupan hidrasi atau air putih juga dapat memengaruhi produksi ASI. Sebagian besar komponen ASI adalah air. Jika ibu kurang minum air putih, hal ini juga dapat menyebabkan penurunan produksi ASI. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan cairan tubuh, ibu bisa memperbanyak minum air putih serta mengurangi minuman bersoda dan mengandung kafein selama menyusui.

Stres 

Selain pola makan, kondisi mental ibu juga memengaruhi produksi ASI. Kondisi ini sering dialami ibu yang stres dan kelelahan karena merawat bayi, terutama pada hari-hari pertama kelahiran bayi. Ketika stres, pelepasan hormon oksitosin yang mendorong produksi ASI akan berkurang. Akibatnya, produksi ASI pun akan menurun. 

Kurang istirahat

Sama halnya dengan stres, kesibukan merawat bayi di tengah aktivitas harian ibu lainnya juga dapat menyebabkan ibu kelelahan dan kurang istirahat. Ketika ibu kurang istirahat, tubuh akan mengalami stres. Stres memicu pelepasan hormon adrenalin yang dapat menghambat pelepasan oksitosin sehingga menghambat produksi ASI. 

Minum obat-obatan tertentu

Beberapa obat diketahui dapat menurunkan produksi ASI. Jika ibu memiliki kondisi medis yang mengharuskan minum obat alergi, obat golongan steroid kuat, obat hormonal, pseudoefedrin, kemungkinan dapat mengalami penurunan produksi ASI. Sebaiknya, konsultasikan ke dokter mengenai penggantian obat agar produksi ASI tetap lancar. 

Selain obat-obatan tersebut, penggunaan zat terlarang seperti narkoba dan konsumsi alkohol juga dapat menyebabkan penurunan produksi ASI.

Tips Meningkatkan Produksi ASI

Jika ibu merasa produksi ASI berkurang, sebaiknya cari tahu penyebab penurunan produksi ASI. Beberapa cara yang bisa dilakukan untuk meningkatkan produksi ASI antara lain:

  • Memperbaiki cara perlekatan payudara dan mulut bayi saat menyusu  
  • Mengonsumsi makanan sehat dengan gizi seimbang seperti sayuran, buah-buahan, kacang-kacangan, dan daging
  • Mencukupi kebutuhan air putih
  • Menyusui lebih sering dan memompa payudara di sela-sela jadwal menyusui
  • Mengelola stres dengan baik
  • Menyempatkan untuk tidur atau istirahat
