Mendonorkan darah tidak hanya membantu menyelamatkan nyawa orang lain namun juga menyumbangkan manfaat kesehatan bagi pendonor. Orang yang mendonorkan darah cenderung memiliki jantung yang lebih sehat. Selain itu, pendonor juga bisa mengetahui kadar hemoglobin atau zat besi di dalam darah.

Tetapi tidak semua orang boleh melakukan donor darah. Ada beberapa kondisi yang menyebabkan seseorang tidak boleh melakukan donor darah. Bagaimana bila sedang hamil atau menyusui, bolehkah melakukan donor darah?

 

Risiko Donor Darah saat Sedang Hamil

Melakukan donor darah saat sedang hamil tidak direkomendasikan oleh dokter karena risiko anemia yang sering dialami selama kehamilan. Sebagian besar anemia selama kehamilan disebabkan oleh kekurangan zat besi.

Saat sedang hamil, tubuh membutuhkan lebih banyak zat besi untuk membantu pertumbuhan janin. Ibu hamil wajib memenuhi 27 mg zat besi setiap hari untuk mencegah anemia akibat kekurangan zat besi.

Anemia dapat memengaruhi pertumbuhan janin terutama di trimester pertama. Jika anemia tidak diatasi, maka janin berisiko lahir prematur, lahir dengan berat badan rendah, dan mengalami gangguan perkembangan.

Organisasi kesehatan dunia (WHO) tidak merekomendasikan ibu hamil mendonorkan darahnya. Sebaiknya menunggu 9 bulan setelah kelahiran atau 3 bulan setelah menyapih.

Risiko Donor Darah saat Sedang Menyusui

Seperti yang disebutkan sebelumnya, WHO merekomendasikan ibu menyusui mendonorkan darahnya kembali setelah 3 bulan menyapih.

Mendonorkan darah ketika sedang menyusui meningkatkan beberapa risiko di antaranya:

  • Memar atau kemerahan di tempat suntikan
  • Mual
  • Pusing
  • Pingsan
  • Anemia (kurang darah)
  • Menurunnya produksi ASI selama beberapa hari

Kapan Boleh Mulai Mendonorkan Darah Kembali?

Ibu hamil harus menunggu 9 bulan setelah melahirkan atau 3 bulan setelah menyapih bayi untuk bisa kembali mendonorkan darahnya.

Sebelum kembali mendonorkan darah ada beberapa hal yang perlu dipersiapkan, di antaranya:

  • Memeriksakan diri ke dokter apakah tubuh sudah siap untuk kembali aktif menjadi pendonor darah setelah melahirkan atau menyusui
  • Melakukan pemeriksaan kesehatan
  • Minum cukup air sebelum melakukan donor darah
  • Makan makanan bergizi seimbang sebelum melakukan donor darah
  • Menghindari makanan berlemak seperti gorengan atau es krim
  • Mengenakan pakaian yang nyaman seperti kemeja berlengan sehingga lengan dapat diakses dengan bebas
  • Rileks selama proses pendonoran dilakukan misalnya dengan mendengarkan musik atau berbicara dengan donatur lainnya

Setelah proses donor darah berakhir sebaiknya duduk atau berbaring terlebih dahulu selama beberapa waktu khususnya bila merasa pusing. Hindari aktivitas yang meningkatkan risiko pingsan atau cedera setidaknya selama 24 jam setelah donor darah.

Konsumsi makanan tinggi kandungan zat besi atau suplemen zat besi. Hindari melakukan aktivitas fisik yang berat sampai 24 jam selanjutnya.
