Memilih sepatu bukan perkara menentukan merk dan ukuran saja. Salah pilih sepatu bisa menyebabkan cedera, salah satunya cedera punggung.

Para ilmuwan menemukan bahwa sakit punggung yang tak membaik selama berbulan-bulan dapat disebabkan karena salah memilih sepatu. Semakin lama Anda menggunakan sepatu baik untuk berdiri maupun berjalan, maka akan semakin besar resikonya.

Dilansir Everydayhealth, ada beberapa jenis sepatu atau sandal yang sebaiknya tidak digunakan sepanjang hari karena dapat memicu cedera.

Sandal jepit

Walaupun nyaman digunakan saat santai, ternyata sandal jepit tidak disarankan untuk dipakai sepanjang hari. Sandal jepit yang desainnya non-orthopedic membuat tumit berada dalam posisi lebih rendah daripada jari kaki. Hal ini dapat memicu tekanan negatif tumit.

Sandal dan sepatu flat

Sama halnya dengan sandal jepit, sandal dan sepatu yang bentuknya flat dapat menyebabkan tekanan negatif pada tumit. Yang akan memperparah kondisi sakit punggung.

Terlalu keras atau terlalu empuk

Sandal dan sepatu yang terlalu keras atau terlalu empuk juga dapat memicu sakit punggung karena tidak menopang tumit dengan baik.

Sandal atau sepatu minimalis

Sandal atau sepatu dengan desain minimalis dan sol yang sangat tipis juga tidak baik untuk kesehatan. Selain menyebabkan sakit punggung juga dapat menyebabkan sakit pada kaki karena kaki tidak mendapatkan perlindungan yang baik.

Bagaimana memilih sepatu agar terhindari dari cedera?

Agar terhindar dari cedera, seperti dilansir UHS Umich, memilih sepatu harus sesuai dengan kegiatan yang akan dilakukan. Umumnya sepatu dan sandal sudah didesain sedemikian rupa agar memberikan kenyamanan saat dipakai sesuai kegiatan yang dilakukan. Misalnya seperti:

Sepatu lari

Sandal

Sandal nyaman dan aman digunakan untuk berjalan jarak pendek. Pilihlah sandal yang bagian depannya tertutup untuk memberikan perlindungan di bagian depan kaki atau pergelangan kaki.

Sepatu boots

Sepatu ini tidak didesain untuk digunakan sepanjang hari. Gunakan saat memang membutuhkan perlindungan khusus untuk kaki.

Sepatu wanita

Sepatu dengan hak tinggi memang dapat memperbaiki penampilan postur tubuh, namun sangatlah penting untuk memilih hak sepatu yang lebar dan tidak runcing. Gunakan sepatu hak tinggi hanya di kondisi tertentu, setelah acara selesai segera ganti dengan yang lebih pendek.

Jika sakit pada punggung tidak kunjung hilang walau sudah memilih sepatu yang sesuai kebutuhan, maka inilah saat untuk mencari penyebab lain. Memeriksakan diri ke dokter akan membantu Anda mengatasi keluhan agar pengobatannya tidak terlambat.
