Cara Kerja Pil KB Dalam Mengatasi Jerawat

Pil KB umumnya digunakan untuk mengobati jenis jerawat yang disebabkan oleh fluktuasi hormon, terutama androgen. Androgen adalah hormon yang dapat merangsang kelenjar sebasea di kulit untuk memproduksi lebih banyak zat minyak atau yang disebut sebum.

Jerawat hormonal sering muncul di sekitar area dagu dan rahang. Jerawat batu atau yang cenderung meninggalkan bekas luka juga bisa dipengaruhi oleh hormon, jerawat seperti inilah yang bisa diatasi dengan pil KB.

Pil KB mengandung hormon estrogen dan progestin yang dapat membantu mengurangi kadar androgen dalam tubuh. Dengan menurunkan kadar hormon ini, produksi sebum berkurang, sehingga menurunkan risiko munculnya jerawat.

Pil KB juga membantu menstabilkan fluktuasi hormon yang terjadi selama siklus menstruasi. Hormon yang tidak stabil, selain memicu produksi sebum berlebih juga dapat menyebabkan peradangan di kulit.

Menggunakan pil KB sebagai obat jerawat relatif aman dan efektif. Namun, seperti kebanyakan obat, ada risiko dan efek samping yang perlu dipertimbangkan.

Menggunakan pil KB sebagai obat jerawat memberikan beberapa manfaat, di antaranya:

  • Membantu mengurangi frekuensi timbulnya jerawat dengan menstabilkan hormon dan menurunkan produksi sebum di kulit
  • Mengurangi jumlah jerawat yang muncul di wajah atau area tubuh lain
  • Mengurangi kemerahan dan pembengkakan yang sering menyertai jerawat
  • Mengurangi risiko terbentuknya jerawat batu yang menyakitkan

Meskipun pil KB saat ini mengandung dosis estrogen dan progesteron yang lebih rendah, ada beberapa risiko dan efek samping yang perlu diperhatikan. Beberapa risiko penggunaan pil KB sebagai obat jerawat, di antaranya:

  • Risiko yang lebih tinggi untuk mengalami serangan jantung dan stroke, terutama jika Anda adalah perokok aktif atau memiliki faktor risiko seperti obesitas dan tekanan darah tinggi
  • Risiko meningkatnya pembentukan bekuan darah di kaki atau paru-paru
  • Peningkatan risiko tekanan darah tinggi dan penyakit kardiovaskular lainnya
  • Peningkatan frekuensi dan keparahan sakit kepala migrain 
  • Memengaruhi suasana hati, menyebabkan depresi, dan perubahan suasana hati yang signifikan
