Aspirin atau asam asetisalisilat adalah obat pereda nyeri, demam dan peradangan. Obat ini banyak digunakan untuk meredakan sakit kepala, juga digunakan untuk menurunkan risiko terjadinya stroke dan serangan jantung. Penelitian Tentang Aspirin dan Jerawat

Aspirin adalah obat yang biasa digunakan untuk meredakan rasa nyeri ringan, demam, obat antiperadangan dan pengencer darah. Biasanya obat ini dikonsumsi untuk meredakan sakit kepala, mengurangi pembengkakan dan menurunkan demam. Obat ini bisa dibeli dengan bebas tanpa resep dokter.

Jerawat adalah masalah kulit umum dimana terjadi peradangan di kelenjar pilosebasea. Obat jerawat yang umum digunakan adalah salicylic acid dan benzoil peroksida. Namun ada juga pengobatan jerawat yang menggunakan aspirin sebagai obat totol jerawat (acne spot treatment). Pengobatan ini didasarkan pada kandungan asam asetilsalisilat pada aspirin yang mirip dengan salicylic acid, yaitu kandungan pada obat jerawat yang memiliki manfaat untuk meredakan peradangan.

Berikut ini cara menggunakan aspirin sebagai obat jerawat:

  • Hancurkan beberapa tablet aspirin
  • Campurkan bubuk aspirin dengan 1 sendok makan air hangat untuk membuatnya kental seperti pasta
  • Cuci muka Anda dengan pembersih biasa
  • Oleskan pasta aspirin langsung ke jerawat
  • Diamkan 10-15 menit
  • Bilas hingga bersih dengan air hangat

Meskipun pengobatan ini cukup populer di sosial media, namun para ahli mengungkapkan bahwa penelitian mengenai efektivitas aspirin sebagai obat topikal dalam mengatasi jerawat masih terbatas.

Dilansir dari Healthline, American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) tidak merekomendasikan aspirin sebagai pengobatan jerawat. Belum ada bukti penggunaan aspirin dalam pengobatan jerawat, jadi masih diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut sebelum dapat direkomendasikan oleh AAD. Meskipun demikian, beberapa dokter kulit membolehkan penggunaan aspirin untuk mengatasi jerawat pada kondisi darurat.

AAD merekomendasikan penggunaan produk obat jerawat lainnya yang dirancang khusus dengan bahan-bahan yang dapat melawan jerawat dan menghidrasi dibandingkan aspirin. Beberapa alternatif kandungan obat jerawat lainnya yaitu:

  • Benzoil peroksida
  • Retinoid topikal
  • Antibiotik topikal
  • Klascoteron
  • Asam salisilat
  • Asam azaleat

Efek Samping Aspirin untuk Mengatasi Jerawat

Aspirin umumnya minim efek samping jika digunakan sebagai obat minum. Namun jika digunakan sebagai obat topikal, efek samping paling umum dari aspirin adalah kulit kering, dan iritasi seperti pengelupasan atau kemerahan. Anda mungkin juga lebih rentan terhadap efek ini jika Anda sering menggunakan aspirin topikal.

Untuk mengurangi efek samping, Anda bisa menggunakan pelembap dan sunscreen setelah menggunakan aspirin topikal. Aspirin merupakan obat antiinflamasi nonsteroid (NSAID), jika Anda memiliki alergi terhadap NSAID lainnya seperti ibuprofen dan naproxen sebaiknya hindari penggunaan aspirin. 

Aspirin juga tidak dianjurkan dalam bentuk apa pun bagi ibu hamil dan menyusui. Jika Anda mengalami jerawat akibat perubahan hormon di masa kehamilan sebaiknya hindari penggunaan aspirin. Konsultasikan ke dokter untuk mendapat rekomendasi penanganan jerawat kehamilan yang tepat.
