Diet ketat merupakan salah satu cara untuk menjaga berat badan tetap ideal. Namun diet yang terlalu ketat ternyata berisiko menyebabkan seseorang kurang nutrisi. Salah satu efek samping dari kekurangan nutrisi adalah rambut mudah rontok dan patah. 

 

Hubungan Antara Diet Ketat dan Rambut Rontok

Penyebab rambut rontok bisa bermacam-macam, mulai dari kondisi kesehatan, masalah autoimun, perubahan hormon, dan pengaruh obat-obatan yang dikonsumsi. Selain itu, pengaturan pola makan diet ketat yang menyebabkan Anda kekurangan nutrisi tertentu juga dapat menjadi pemicu kerontokan rambut. 

Rambut terdiri dari dua struktur utama, yaitu batang rambut dan folikel rambut. Batang rambut adalah yang dapat kita lihat sehari-hari sedangkan folikel rambut berada di bawah kulit. Rambut tumbuh dari folikel rambut. Folikel rambut memiliki sifat sensitif dan sangat aktif membelah. Inilah sebabnya kekurangan nutrisi tertentu dapat menyebabkan gangguan pertumbuhan rambut.

Pada orang yang menjalani diet ketat, terkadang tidak memerhatikan jenis nutrisi yang dikonsumsi. Pelaku diet ketat umumnya hanya fokus pada mengurangi karbohidrat dan lemak untuk menjaga berat badan tetap ideal. Namun pelaku diet ketat juga berisiko mengalami kekurangan nutrisi yang dapat meningkatkan risiko rambut rontok.

Beberapa jenis nutrisi yang rentan kurang tercukupi akibat diet ketat dan pengaruhnya pada rambut, antara lain:

Zat besi

Bagi Anda yang diet mengurangi asupan protein, terkadang berisiko mengalami kekurangan zat besi. Salah satu sumber zat besi yang mudah diserap oleh tubuh adalah zat besi heme yang berasal dari protein hewani, termasuk di antaranya jeroan atau daging organ.

Dilansir dari Healthline, kekurangan zat besi merupakan jenis kekurangan nutrisi paling umum yang menyebabkan rambut rontok. Kondisi ini menyebabkan kerontokan rambut yang dikenal dengan istilah telogen effluvium, yaitu jenis rambut rontok yang ditandai dengan terganggunya siklus pertumbuhan rambut normal. Akibatnya, Anda mengalami kerontokan rambut berlebihan.

Para ahli menduga kekurangan zat besi dapat mengganggu pertumbuhan rambut dengan mengalihkan simpanan zat besi di folikel rambut ke area lain di tubuh. Menurut beberapa penelitian, orang yang memiliki rambut rontok cenderung memiliki kadar zat besi lebih rendah jika dibandingkan dengan orang yang tidak mengalami kerontokan rambut. 

 

Vitamin D 

Vitamin D berperan dalam pertumbuhan rambut dan menjaga kesehatan folikel rambut. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa orang dengan kadar vitamin D lebih rendah cenderung memiliki rambut rontok, termasuk pada pengidap autoimun alopecia areata.

 

Zinc

Zinc adalah mineral yang berperan penting dalam fungsi kekebalan tubuh, sintesis protein, dan pembelahan sel. Kekurangan zinc dapat menyebabkan rambut rontok. Sejumlah penelitian menunjukkan bahwa orang dengan kondisi rambut rontok tertentu cenderung memiliki kadar zinc yang lebih rendah dibandingkan orang tanpa rambut rontok. Kondisi tersebut di antaranya alopesia areata, telogen effluvium dan kerontokan berpola pada pria dan wanita.

Cara Alami Mengatasi Rambut Rontok

Apabila Anda menjalani diet ketat dan mengalami kerontokan rambut, sebaiknya periksa kembali proporsi makanan Anda. Kerontokan rambut akibat kekurangan nutrisi bukanlah hal yang bersifat permanen dan dapat diatasi dengan memperbaiki pola makan. Anda juga dapat menggunakan obat-obatan untuk mencegah kerontokan rambut.

Selain itu, Anda juga bisa menggunakan beberapa bahan alami untuk mengatasi rambut rontok seperti berikut: 

  • Memperbanyak asupan protein dan makanan yag mengandung lemak sehat seperti ikan salmon, kenari, minyak zaitun

  • Mengoleskan minyak kepala dan mendiamkan di rambut selama beberapa saat
