Menggunakan tabir surya adalah salah satu cara efektif untuk melindungi dan menjaga kesehatan kulit. Saat digunakan secara rutin, tabir surya dapat mencegah luka bakar akibat sinar matahari, mengurangi risiko kanker kulit dan juga tanda penuaan dini.

Kapan Perlu Menggunakan Tabir Surya

Setiap hari matahari memancarkan sinar UV yang bisa berbahaya bagi kesehatan kulit. Bahkan, di saat cuaca mendung, 80% sinar UV matahari masih bisa menembus awan dan mencapai kulit.

Dengan hanya 15 menit di luar ruangan saja sudah cukup menyebabkan kerusakan dan potensi kanker kulit jangka panjang akibat paparan sinar matahari. Inilah sebabnya, para ahli dermatologi menyarankan untuk menggunakan tabir surya setiap hari, khususnya pada kulit yang tidak tertutup pakaian saat beraktivitas di bawah sinar matahari langsung.

Tips Memilih Tabir Surya yang Terbaik

Dalam memilih tabir surya, Anda perlu mempertimbangkan beberapa hal berikut ini:

Tingkat SPF-nya

Sangat dianjurkan untuk menggunakan tabir surya setiap hari untuk melindungi kulit dari sinar matahari yang merusak. Pemilihan produk tabir surya dengan SPF yang tepat tergantung pada seberapa lama Anda akan berada di bawah sinar matahari dan seberapa kuat paparan sinar matahari di daerah tempat Anda tinggal.

Jika Anda akan menghabiskan waktu di luar ruangan dalam waktu yang singkat, maka SPF 30 bisa menjadi pilihan yang baik. Namun jika Anda akan menghabiskan waktu di luar ruangan dalam waktu yang lama atau tinggal di daerah dengan paparan sinar matahari yang tinggi, maka disarankan untuk menggunakan produk dengan SPF 50 atau lebih.

 

Spektrum tabir surya

Sinar matahari memiliki dua jenis sinar yang berbahaya, yaitu sinar UVA dan sinar UVB. Paparan berlebihan kedua sinar tersebut dapat menyebabkan kanker kulit.

Sinar UVA dapat membuat kulit menua sebelum waktunya. Menyebabkan tanda-tanda penuaan dini seperti keriput dan bintik-bintik di kulit. Sinar ini, bahkan bisa menembus kaca jendela.

Sedangkan sinar UVB adalah penyebab utama terbakarnya kulit.

Sebagian besar tabir surya hanya memiliki perlindungan terhadap sinar UVB. Padahal sinar UVA juga berkontribusi terhadap kanker kulit dan penuaan dini.

Untuk memberikan perlindungan maksimal pada kulit pilih tabir surya dengan perlindungan spektrum luas. Artinya, Anda harus memilih tabir surya dengan label perlindungan sinar UVA dan UVB.

Water resistant (anti-air)

Tabir surya yang baik memiliki label water resistant, artinya dapat memberikan proteksi terhadap air dalam jangka waktu tertentu. Karena risiko keringat atau kegiatan berenang Anda harus mengaplikasikan kembali tabir surya setidaknya setiap 2 jam atau lebih. Tabir surya biasanya terhapus saat Anda mengeringkan diri dengan handuk sehingga Anda perlu memakainya lebih banyak.

 

Pelembap atau Tabir Surya Terlebih Dahulu?

Anda mungkin bingung urutan mana yang lebih dahulu, tabir surya atau pelembap? Perlu diingat selama tabir surya yang Anda gunakan memiliki kandungan SPF 30, spektrum yang luas dan tahan air, maka tidak masalah berada di urutan manakah tabir surya digunakan.
