Lingkungan sekolah bisa menjadi tempat yang mudah terkontaminasi oleh kuman dan penyakit menular. Karena banyaknya interaksi sosial, kontak fisik, dan berbagi fasilitas di sekolah, risiko penyebaran kuman dan penyakit memang dapat meningkat.

Oleh karena itu, penting untuk mewaspadai tempat-tempat paling banyak kuman dan membekali anak dengan kebiasaan hygiene yang baik.

 

Tempat dengan Kontaminasi Kuman Terbanyak di Sekolah

Beberapa tempat umum di sekolah ternyata menyembunyikan banyak kuman dan penyakit menular, di antaranya:

Kamar mandi sekolah

Kamar mandi sekolah menjadi salah satu tempat di sekolah yang berpotensi memiliki kontaminasi kuman yang tinggi. Di sini, banyak anak menggunakan kamar mandi yang sama setiap harinya. Kamar mandi memiliki sifat basah dan hangat sehingga cocok bagi kuman untuk berkembang biak.

Ajarkan anak pentingnya mencuci tangan dengan benar setelah menggunakan toilet. Beri tahu mereka mengapa kebiasaan ini penting untuk mencegah penyebaran kuman.

 

Tangkai pintu dan pegangan tangga

Tangkai pintu, pegangan tangga dan permukaan lain yang sering disentuh oleh banyak orang bisa menjadi sumber penyebaran kuman di lingkungan sekolah. Karena banyaknya kontak fisik, kuman dapat dengan mudah berpindah dari satu individu ke individu lainnya.

Sangat penting untuk menjaga kebersihan tangkai pintu dan pegangan tangga dengan cara membersihkan dan mensterilkan secara rutin. Ajari anak untuk mencuci tangan teratur atau menggunakan pembersih tangan berbasis alkohol setelah menyentuh permukaan benda yang sering disentuh.

Ruang olahraga dan peralatannya

Ruang olahraga dan peralatannya juga bisa menjadi sumber penyebaran kuman di sekolah. Aktivitas fisik dan interaksi siswa di ruang olahraga dan penggunaan peralatan bersama meningkatkan risiko penularan penyakit.

Ajari anak untuk selalu membawa handuk pribadi saat berolahraga untuk menghindari berbagi keringat dengan anak lain. Jika memungkinkan anjurkan pula untuk menggunakan peralatan olahraga pribadi.

Pastikan anak-anak mencuci tangan atau menggunakan pembersih tangan berbasis alkohol setelah berolahraga atau menggunakan peralatan olahraga bersama.

 

Kantin atau ruang kafetaria

Kantin atau ruang kafetaria sekolah juga menjadi salah satu tempat yang berpotensi memiliki banyak kuman karena di sana siswa berinteaksi secara dekat, berbagi makanan dan menyentuh berbagai barang. Ajari anak untuk selalu mencuci tangan dengan sabun dan air sebelum makan untuk mengurangi risiko penyebaran kuman dari tangan ke makanan. Ajari pula mereka untuk menggunakan peralatan makan pribadi daripada menggunakan peralatan makan umum.

Lab komputer

Tempat lain di sekolah yang berisiko menjadi tempat penularan penyakit karena banyak kuman tersembunyi adalah lab komputer. Di sana ada banyak permukaan alat seperti mouse, keyboard dan layar yang disentuh banyak anak.

Dorong anak untuk selalu mencuci tangan setelah menggunakan lab komputer untuk mengurangi risiko penyebaran kuman dari peralatan ke tangan dan akhirnya ke wajah. Hindari berbagi headphone dengan teman-teman lain dan jika memungkinkan sediakan headphone pribadi.

 

Anak-anak sangat mudah tertular pilek, influenza, atau batuk. Jangan menyekolahkan anak yang sakit dan biarkan mereka beristirahat serta memulihkan diri di rumah. Jika anak mengalami demam lebih dari 38 derajat Celsius, sakit tenggorokan, batuk, diare, sakit kepala parah dan juga muntah, bawa mereka ke dokter untuk mendapatkan pengobatan.
