How It Works

Immobilizes intestinal worms by triggering a blockade of their nerve transmission.

Indications

Indicated for infections caused by roundworms, pinworms, and hookworms.

Contraindication

1. Known allergy or hypersensitivity to pyrantel pamoate
2. Pregnancy and breastfeeding, or when pregnancy is suspected (may be given 7 days after menstruation)
3. Patients with symptoms of intestinal obstruction, such as several days without passing gas or stool, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain

Side Effects

1. Gastrointestinal issues, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, and abdominal pain.
2. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur.
3. Skin redness.

1. 125 mg tablets

2. 250 mg tablets

3. 250 mg syrup

Dosage

1. Adults (body weight >62.5 kg): 750 mg (6 tablets of 125 mg taken once)
2. Ages 17 years and older (weight 50-62.5 kg): 625 mg (5 tablets of 125 mg per dose)
3. Ages 9-17 years (weight 25-50 kg): 500 mg (4 tablets of 125 mg per dose)
4. Ages 2-9 years (weight 11-25 kg): 250 mg (2 tablets of 125 mg per dose)
