Sebelumnya Anda perlu mengetahui bahwa selaput dara bukan tanda pasti keperawanan. Selaput dara adalah sebuah lapisan jaringan yang tipis dan elastis, terletak di sekitar bibir dan di dalam vagina. Sedangkan, seorang wanita dikatakan hilang keperawanan ketika pertama kali ia melakukan hubungan seksual.

Normalnya selaput dara berbentuk donat kecil disertai lubang kecil di tengahnya. Bentuknya akan meregang lebar pada saat tergores atau diberikan tekanan. Proses ini dinamakan robeknya selaput dara.

Mengenai pertanyaan Anda, penggunaan tampon yang terlalu dalam, bisa menyebabkan selaput dara rusak. Hal ini bukan berarti bahwa wanita tersebut kehilangan keperawanannya.

Selain penggunaan tampon, terdapat beberapa hal yang dapat merusak selaput dara, antara lain:

  • Cedera fisik pada organ intin wanita akibat kecelakaan, pukulan, atau benturan
  • Olahraga, terutama bersepeda
  • Tindakan medis tertentu, seperti USG transvaginal, kolposkopi, dan pap smear
  • Aktivitas masturbasi terutama dengan alat bantu seks

Apabila Anda memilih untuk memakai tampon, berikut cara menggunakan tampon dengan benar, yaitu:

  • Cuci tangan sebelum memasukkan tampon. Kemudian cari posisi yang nyaman seperti jongkok atau duduk mengangkang
  • Coba untuk relaks agar tampon mudah masuk
  • Mengoleskan pelumas pada ujung tampon atau aplikator
  • Masukkan tampon ke dalam vagina dengan jari atau aplikator.
  • Disarankan untuk mengganti tampon setelah 4-8 jam pemakaian
  • Ketika mengganti tampon, Anda bisa membungkus tampon sebelumnya dengan kertas toilet dan dibuang di tempat sampah

Untuk menghindari terjadinya robekan pada selaput dara, bagi Anda yang belum menikah, dianjurkan untuk menggunakan jenis pembalut selain tampon, seperti pembalut kain dan pembalut sekali pakai.

Bila terdapat keluhan seperti kemerahan, bengkak, gatal, atau muncul ruam di vagina, disarankan untuk konsultasi ke dokter di fasilitas kesehatan terdekat. Pengobatan penyakit akan disesuaikan dengan tingkat keparahannya.
