5 Cara Mudah Atasi Hidung Tersumbat

Hidung tersumbat membuat Anda tak nyaman beraktivitas. Selain membuat kemampuan menghidu berkurang, hidung tersumbat juga membuat kesulitan bernapas terutama ketika tidur. Namun Anda tak perlu khawatir, hidung tersumbat ternyata bisa diatasi dengan cara yang mudah. Yuk simak ulasannya!

 

Penyebab hidung tersumbat

Hidung tersumbat paling sering disebabkan oleh rhinitis, yaitu peradangan di lapisan dalam hidung yang sering ditandai dengan pilek dan bersin-bersin. Selain rhinitis, hidung tersumbat juga bisa disebabkan oleh flu dan sinusitis.

 

Cara mengatasi hidung tersumbat di rumah

Untuk mengatasi hidung tersumbat, Anda bisa minum obat golongan antihistamin, seperti chlorpheniramine maleate (CTM) dan dekongestan yang dijual bebas.

 

Selain menggunakan obat-obatan tersebut, ada beberapa cara yang bisa Anda coba untuk meredakan hidung tersumbat, yaitu:

1. Buang ingus lebih sering

Ketika hidung tersumbat, cobalah untuk membuang ingus lebih sering. Meskipun cara ini sangat ampuh, namun terkadang lendir pada hidung susah dikeluarkan dan butuh tenaga ekstra. Ketika terlalu kencang membuang ingus, Anda justru dapat membawa kuman kembali ke saluran hidung dan telinga.

 

Untuk menghindarinya, tutup satu lubang hidung Anda ketika membuang ingus. Cara ini dapat membantu Anda mengontrol tekanan saat mengeluarkan ingus. Lakukan cara ini kapan pun hidung terasa penuh dan jangan lupa untuk mencuci tangan hingga bersih setelah membuang ingus.

 

2. Hirup uap hangat

Ketika hidung tersumbat, saluran hidng dan sinus sebaiknya terjaga agar tetap lembap. Salah satu caranya adalah dengan menghirup uap hangat.

 

Caranya mudah, rebus air hingga mendidih, lalu teteskan minyak pelega hidung tersumbat (inhalant decongestant oil) dan hirup secara perlahan. Yang perlu diwaspadai saat menghirup uap hangat adalah perhatikan suhu  air yang akan dihirup dan jenis minyak yang digunakan.

 

Suhu air yang terlalu panas dapat membuat hidung iritasi. Sedangkan jika Anda menggunakan minyak yang memiliki efek panas, dapat berisiko membuat mata perih terkena uap.

 

3. Mandi air hangat

Saat hidung tersumbat karena batuk atau pilek, badan juga terasa pegal-pegal dan tidak nyaman. Anda bisa meredakannya dengan mandi air hangat yang dicampur garam. Mandi air hangat juga membuat badan menjadi lebih rileks dan uap air hangat dapat mendorong lendir di dalam hidung menjadi lebih encer sehingga Anda dapat bernapas lega.

 

4. Minum minuman hangat

Minum air hangat memiliki efek yang sama dengan mandi air hangat. Minuman air hangat dapat menenangkan saluran hidung yang meradang dan mencegah dehidrasi. Beberapa minuman yang baik untuk meredakan hidung tersumbat di antaranya air putih hangat, campuran teh dan madu, atau teh peppermint.

 

5. Istirahat cukup

Meskipun tidur dengan hidung tersumbat terasa melelahkan, namun Anda memerlukan istirahat yang cukup untuk memulihkan kondisi tubuh. Tidur sangat baik untuk membantu proses penyembuhan sakit flu, batuk dan pilek. Untuk memudahkan Anda bernapas, tidurlah dengan tumpukan bantal yang lebih tinggi sehingga posisi hidung Anda lebih tinggi dari badan.

 

Berbagai cara di atas dapat dilakukan untuk meredakan hidung tersumbat di rumah. Jika cara di atas tidak berhasil dan muncul gejala lain seperti demam, lendir berubah warna dan sesak napas, Anda bisa memeriksakan diri ke dokter untuk mengatasi keluhan.
