Gaya hidup sehat seperti rajin berolahraga, aktif bergerak, makan makanan sehat, tidur cukup dan juga piawai mengelola stres sangat berpengaruh pada kondisi kesehatan, demikian pula dengan riwayat kesehatan keluarga.

Menurut CDC, jika Anda memiliki satu atau lebih anggota keluarga dengan diabetes, penyakit jantung, osteoporosis, atau jenis kanker tertentu, maka risiko Anda mengalami penyakit yang sama mungkin lebih tinggi dibandingkan mereka yang tidak memiliki riwayat keluarga dengan penyakit tersebut. Penyakit-penyakit tersebut diturunkan dari orang tua ke anak melalui mutasi gen.

 

Jenis Penyakit yang Dapat Diturunkan di dalam Keluarga

Beberapa penyakit diketahui bersifat diturunkan di dalam keluarga, misalnya seperti:

  • Penyakit Crohn
  • Hiperkolesterolemia familial, kondisi dimana kolesterol LDL (kolesterol "jahat") di tubuh sangat tinggi, dan gangguan ini diturunkan dalam keluarga
  • Penyakit anemia sel sabit, gangguan pada sel darah merah
  • Fibrosis kistik, kondisi yang menyebabkan produksi lendir berlebihan di tubuh, dan dapat merusak saluran napas, usus, dan organ lain
  • Diabetes tipe 1 dan tipe 2
  • Asma
  • Hemofilia
  • Sindrom down
  • Penyakit jantung
  • Tekanan darah tinggi
  • Gangguan mental
  • Osteoporosis
  • Kanker seperti kanker payudara, kanker rahim, kanker anus, kanker prostat
  • Keguguran
  • Stroke

 

Apa itu Riwayat Kesehatan Keluarga

Menurut CDC, riwayat kesehatan keluarga adalah catatan tentang penyakit dan kondisi kesehatan dalam keluarga Anda. Catatan ini dibutuhkan karena Anda dan keluarga berbagi gen, yang mana kemungkinan Anda memiliki perilaku, kebiasaan berolahraga, dan menu makanan yang mirip. Anda juga mungkin tinggal di daerah sama dan bersentuhan dengan hal-hal serupa di lingkungan yang sama. Dari semua faktor tersebut, riwayat keluarga akan dikumpulkan dalam sebuah catatan yang akan mempermudah dokter untuk mendiagnosis sesuai dengan gejala yang Anda miliki.

Anda mungkin tidak cukup tahu banyak tentang riwayat kesehatan keluarga, namun informasi ini dapat dikumpulkan dengan membuat catatan bersama sehingga setiap anggota keluarga dapat mengakses dan menggunakannya, terutama ketika hendak melakukan skrining terhadap penyakit tertentu. Sertakan pula kondisi medis utama, usia saat didiagnosis, latar belakang etnis, hingga info tentang kematian. Dan pastikan untuk memperbarui informasi secara teratur sehingga bermanfaat bagi setiap anggota keluarga.

 

Manfaat Riwayat Kesehatan Keluarga

Dari kumpulan catatan riwayat kesehatan keluarga, dokter dapat menemukan informasi tentang risiko masalah kesehatan tertentu, terutama bila ada kerabat dengan kondisi sesuai dengan gejala yang sedang dirasakan. Di sisi lain, apabila Anda tidak memiliki gangguan namun ada risiko penyakit kronis, Anda dapat melakukan skrining sebagai pencegahan agar penyakit tidak berkembang.

Mengetahui riwayat kesehatan keluarga memungkikan Anda untuk mengambil langkah-langkah preventif dan menurunkan risiko akan kanker tertentu yang dapat dicegah melalui skrining.

Selain itu, mengumpulkan catatan riwayat kesehatan keluarga juga bermanfaat untuk:

  • Mendeteksi risiko penyakit tertentu
  • Segera mendapatkan perawatan atau tindakan pencegahan terhadap penyakit yang dialami keluarga
  • Membantu menentukan apakah Anda harus menjalani tes genetik tertentu untuk mengetahui apakah Anda adalah carrier dari penyakit keturunan
  • Mengetahui apakah Anda berisiko menularkan penyakit pada anak-anak lewat pengujian genetik

 

Apa yang Harus Dilakukan Bila Ada Riwayat Penyakit Dalam Keluarga?

Hanya memiliki catatan riwayat kesehatan keluarga saja tidaklah cukup. Ketika Anda tahu bahwa di dalam keluarga ada yang memiliki riwayat penyakit kanker payudara, diabetes, kanker usus, dan lain sebagainya, bicarakan dengan dokter agar Anda bisa mendapatkan skrining. Skrining dibutuhkan terutama bila riwayat penyakit tersebut dialami keluarga terdekat, misalnya orang tua atau saudara kandung.

Lakukan tindakan preventif yang dibutuhkan misalnya dengan mengubah gaya hidup sehat, atau melakukan medical check up rutin untuk menurunkan risikonya.
