Sama seperti masker wajah, masker rambut digunakan untuk menutrisi dan melembapkan rambut. Masker wajah berfungsi sebagai kondisioner yang merawat rambut hingga ke bagian terdalam.

Perbedaannya, masker rambut mungkin harus dibiarkan lebih lama, sekitar 20 menit atau lebih agar bisa meresap hingga ke bagian batang rambut yang lebih dalam.

Ada banyak jenis masker rambut, baik masker rambut instan yang dapat dengan mudah ditemukan di toko, maupun masker rambut dari bahan alami seperti pisang, madu, kuning telur hingga air seduhan teh.

 

Manfaat Menggunakan Masker Rambut

Ada banyak manfaat yang bisa Anda dapatkan dengan rutin menggunakan masker rambut. Manfaatnya bergantung pada jenis masker dan rambut Anda. Adapun manfaat menggunakan masker rambut di antaranya:

  • Membuat rambut lebih lembut dan berkilau
  • Membantu menjaga kelembapan rambut
  • Mengurangi tanda-tanda kerusakan rambut dan mencegah rambut bercabang
  • Merawat kulit kepala
  • Membuat batang rambut lebih kuat

 

Teh Sebagai Masker Rambut, Apa Manfaatnya?

Seperti disebutkan sebelumnya, air seduhan teh dapat digunakan sebagai masker rambut. Teh, terutama teh hitam dapat membantu merawat rambut ketika digunakan sebagai masker maupun untuk membilas rambut.

Membantu Mengembalikan Warna Hitam Rambut

Teh hitam mengandung konsentrasi tanin yang tinggi, sejenis antioksidan yang membantu menetralkan senyawa perusak sel yang disebut radikal bebas.

Secara khusus, teh hitam juga mengandung theaflavins dan thearubigins yang memberikan warna gelap yang khas, sehingga dapat memberikan warna alami pada rambut gelap. Manfaat ini sekaligus membantu mengurangi munculnya uban.

Penting untuk dicatat, masker teh hitam mungkin tidak bekerja baik pada rambut yang diwarnai, rambut berwarna pirang, coklat muda atau berwarna terang lainnya.

Membantu Pertumbuhan Rambut

Membilas rambut dengan teh dapat membantu meningkatkan pertumbuhan rambut. Kandungan antioksidan dan kafein teh yang tinggi diyakini mampu menjaga kesehatan kulit kepala.

Kedua bahan tersebut dapat meresap masuk mencapai folikel rambut untuk memblokir dihidrotestosteron (DHT), yaitu hormon yang terkait dengan kerontokan rambut.

Tingkat DHT yang tinggi terbukti mengecilkan folikel rambut dan memperpendek siklus pertumbuhan rambut, menyebabkan rambut rapuh dan lebih mudah rontok.

Membuat Rambut Lebih Berkilau

Masker teh atau membilas rambut dengan teh dapat membuat rambut lebih berkilau. Kilauan rambut ini berasal dari rambut yang sehat dan terhidrasi.

Namun, kafein dalam teh juga dapat mengeringkan helai rambut jika dibiarkan terlalu lama. Sehingga Anda mungkin tetap harus membilas rambut kembali dengan air dan menggunakan kondisioner setelahnya.

Meningkatkan Kesehatan Kulit Kepala

Kandungan antioksidan dalam teh, baik teh hijau maupun teh hitam dapat menenangkan kulit kepala yang iritasi. Antioksidan dan juga antiradangnya dapat memberikan manfaat saat masuk dan meresap di kulit kepala untuk mencegah ketombe.

 

Bagaimana Memanfaatkan Air Seduhan Teh Sebagai Masker?

Menggunakan air seduhan teh untuk membilas atau sebagai masker sama mudahnya seperti menggunakan masker alami lainnya. Anda tidak membutuhkan persiapan khusus atau membeli produk yang mahal karena teh selalu tersedia di dapur Anda.

Yang Anda perlukan mungkin menyeduhnya dan membiarkannya sampai dingin sebelum menggunakan sebagai masker atau membilas rambut dengan air tersebut.

Berikut adalah langkah-langkah yang bisa Anda coba:

  • Masukkan helai daun teh ke dalam air mendidih dan biarkan kurang lebih 1 jam atau hingga airnya mencapai suhu ruang
  • Masukkan air seduhan teh ke dalam botol spray
  • Semprotkan air seduhan teh setelah selesai keramas, ke seluruh batang rambut dan juga kulit kepala
  • Pijat bagian kulit kepala kemudian tutup rambut dengan menggunakan shower cap. Biarkan setidaknya 20-60 menit
  • Bilas dengan air hangat atau air dingin kemudian gunakan kondisioner setelahnya untuk menjaga kelembapan rambut

 

Belum ada penelitian medis yang membuktikan bahwa teh benar-benar ampuh merawat rambut, atau yang membahas tentang efek samping yang mungkin terjadi. Namun karena mudah diaplikasikan di rumah, tidak ada salahnya untuk dicoba.
