Perubahan musim, asap rokok dan infeksi bakteri atau virus dapat memicu terjadinya peradangan di area sinus atau yang dikenal dengan sinusitis. Ketika peradangan ini terjadi, Anda dapat mengalami rasa tidak nyaman akibat penumpukan lendir di saluran napas. Lantas, bagaimana cara menjaga agar rongga sinus tetap sehat?

 

Cara Menjaga Kesehatan Sinus

Sinus adalah rongga kecil yang saling berhubungan melalui saluran udara di dalam rongga tengkorak. Rongga kecil ini terletak di bagian belakang tulang dahi (frontal), bagian dalam struktur tulang pipi (maxillary), kedua sisi batang hidung dan belakang mata. Itulah sebabnya ketika terjadi peradangan di rongga ini Anda akan mengalami rasa nyeri di dahi atau di bawah mata.

Untuk menjaga kesehatan sinus bisa dilakukan dengan banyak cara seperti meminimalisir risiko infeksi yang menyerang rongga sinus. Beberapa hal yang bisa dilakukan antara lain:

1. Rajin mencuci tangan dengan air dan sabun

Praktik menjaga kebersihan seperti rajin mencuci tangan dengan air dan sabun dapat membantu mengurangi risiko terkena infeksi sinus. Lakukan cuci tangan dengan sabun dan air mengalir selama 20 detik dan pastikan seluruh permukaan tangan terkena. Jika sabun dan air tidak tersedia, Anda bisa menggunakan hand sanitizer yang memiliki kandungan alkohol minimal 60%.

2. Menghindari asap rokok

Untuk menjaga agar rongga sinus Anda tetap sehat, sebaiknya hentikan kebiasaan merokok dan jauhi asap rokok di sekitar Anda. Asap rokok termasuk polutan yang dapat mengiritasi saluran hidung dan paru-paru sehingga meningkatkan risiko mengalami sinusitis kronis. Jika Anda merokok, maka sebaiknya mulailah mengurangi kebiasaan tersebut sekarang juga.

 

3. Menjaga agar rongga hidung tetap lembap

Sinusitis juga dapat terjadi akibat rongga hidung yang kering. Jika udara di sekeliling Anda terasa kering, Anda dapat mengatasinya dengan menggunakan humidifier. Dalam menggunakan humidifier, pilih air yang terdistilasi atau terpurifikasi untuk menekan pertumbuhan bakteri dan jamur.

 

4. Menghindari alergen

Orang yang mengalami alergi dan asma berisiko lebih besar mengalami infeksi sinus. Alergi dan asma menyebabkan penumpukan lendir di sinus dan paru-paru sehingga menyebabkan Anda rentan mengalami sinusitis. Jika dapat menghindari pemicu alergi dan asma, maka risiko mengalami peradangan di sinus akan menurun.

5. Membersihkan rongga sinus

Anda dapat membersihkan rongga hidung dengan melakukan cuci hidung menggunakan cairan infus NaCl. Untuk memudahkan, Anda bisa menggunakan spuit (alat suntik) tanpa jarum 10 cc yang diarahkan ke hidung. Lakukan pembersihan di rongga hidung kanan dan kiri secara teratur. 

 

6. Memperbanyak asupan cairan

Memperbanyak minum juga dapat mengurangi risiko terjadinya sinusitis. Pastikan Anda minum 8 gelas per hari, serta mengonsumsi buah dan sayuran yang mengandung air untuk mencegah terjadinya dehidrasi dan rongga hidung yang kering. 

 

Peradangan di rongga sinus dapat menimbulkan rasa tidak nyaman. Selain cara di atas, Anda juga dapat mengurangi risiko sinusitis dengan memperbanyak makanan sehat, melakukan vaksin flu, dan memperbanyak istirahat.
