How it Works
Guaifenesin helps reduce the thickness of phlegm by increasing fluid in the respiratory tract.
Indications
This medicine is used to loosen and clear phlegm in conditions such as infections of the upper or lower respiratory tract, as well as bronchial asthma.
Contraindications
This drug should not be used in people with a history of allergy or hypersensitivity to guaifenesin.

Dosage

Adults and children over 12 years old: 1–2 tablets, 3–4 times daily, with a maximum daily dose of 2400 mg.

Children 6–12 years old: 1 tablet, 3–4 times daily, with a maximum daily dose of 400 mg.
Safety
Pregnancy:
Category C. Animal studies have shown harmful effects on the fetus, but there are no controlled studies in pregnant women.
Drug Interactions
There are no known drug interactions with guaifenesin.
