How It Works

Antazoline is a medication commonly used to treat allergic conjunctivitis. It is often combined with other ingredients, such as naphazoline, to help relieve the symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis. Antazoline works by blocking the release of histamine, a substance that causes skin itchiness, which helps tp reduce the itchiness-related allergy through a complex process.

 

Indications

The primary condition treated with Antazoline is allergic conjunctivitis, which is an inflammation of the eye caused by an allergic reaction.

 

Contraindications

Antazoline should not be used by individuals with a history of hypersensitivity or allergy to the drug, that have shown up with reactions like hives or swelling of both eyelids after takin this drug.

 

Side Effects

Side effects are generally rare, but some individuals may experience hypersensitivity or allergic reactions, such as hives or swelling of the eyelids.

 

Types

Antazoline is commonly available in the following form:

  • Eye drops

 

Dosage

  • For adults, the typical dosage is to instill 1-2 drops into the affected eye(s) 2-3 times per day.

Antazoline is classified as FDA Category N (the risks of this drug to the fetus is not clearly known).
