Tak dapat dipungkiri, minuman bersoda merupakan minuman yang banyak digemari segala usia, mulai dari anak-anak hingga dewasa. Rasanya yang manis dan segar membuat minuman ini selalu jadi incaran di berbagai acara. Minuman soda atau air berkarbonasi adalah air yang berisi tambahan gas karbon dioksida. Gas ini membuat adanya gelembung-gelembung kecil dalam air. Beberapa bahaya dari kebaisaan mengonsumsi minuman soda pada anak antara lain:

 

Memicu Obesitas

Minuman soda umumnya memiliki kandungan gula yang sangat tinggi. Dalam satu kaleng minuman soda dapat mengandung gula 10 sendok teh yang melebihi kebutuhan harian gula anak-anak. Anak-anak yang sering minum minuman manis berisiko mengalami obesitas.

Minum minuman soda tidak membuat anak-anak merasa kenyang, akibatnya anak akan mengonsumsi minuman soda atau makanan lainnya lebih banyak hingga merasa kenyang. Kebiasaan ini dapat memicu obesitas dan diabetes pada anak.

 

Menyebabkan Kerusakan Gigi

Tingginya kandungan gula dalam minuman soda jika tidak diimbangi dengan kebiasaan menyikat gigi secara rutin dua kali sehari akan meningkatkan risiko kerusakan gigi. Kandungan gula dalam soda yang tinggi dapat merusak email gigi. Selain itu, bakteri yang hidup di sekitar gigi jika terkena gula dalam soda dapat menghasilkan asam yang menyebabkan kerusakan gigi.

Memicu Perilaku Agresif pada Anak

Sejumlah penelitian mengungkapkan bahaya kebiasaan minum soda pada anak bukan hanya dapat memengaruhi berat badan dan kesehatan gigi, namun juga perilaku anak.

Dilansir dari Verywell Mind, minuman soda dapat memicu anak berperilaku lebih agresif. Sebuah penelitian di tahun 2013 menyebutkan bahwa anak-anak yang mengonsumsi minuman bersoda mengalami masalah pemusatan perhatian dan cenderung bersikap agresif.

Anak-anak yang minum 4 atau lebih minuman bersoda setiap harinya cenderung berperilaku destruktif seperti merusak barang orang lain, berkelahi, hingga mudah menyerang orang lain.

Minuman soda bukan hanya mengandung gula tinggi, namun juga kafein, aspartam, natrium benzoat, dan kafein. Bahan-bahan ini dapat menyebabkan sakit kepala, perut mules, dan masalah saraf yang memicu efek samping negatif pada anak.

Menyebabkan Tulang Keropos

Kebiasan minum minuman bersoda juga dapat meningkatkan kerapuhan tulang. Minuman bersoda mengandung asam fosfat yang cukup tinggi. Asam fosfat termasuk salah satu zat yang dapat menghambat penyerapan kalsium sehingga rentan merusak jaringan tulang. Jika dibiarkan, kondisi ini dapat menyebabkan tulang keropos.

 

Memicu Gangguan Tidur

Anak-anak yang sering minum minuman soda juga berisiko mengalami gangguan tidur. Minuman soda mengandung kafein tinggi yang menyebabkan anak susah tidur. Kandungan kafein membuat anak-anak selalu terjaga dan waspada, sedangkan kandungan gulanya membuat anak-anak aktif dan sulit tidur.

 

Tips Memilih Minuman Sehat bagi Anak

Jika minuman soda temasuk minuman yang sebaiknya dihindari oleh anak-anak, lalu bagaimana cara menyajikan minuman yang sehat untuk anak-anak? Dilansir dari Verywell Family, ada beberapa cara yang bisa Anda lakukan untuk menghindari kebiasaan si kecil minum minuman bersoda, yaitu:

Minum susu. Susu memiliki kandungan nutrisi yang lebih sehat daripada soda. Anda bisa memberikan susu rendah lemak untuk anak-anak usia balita atau sesuaikan dengan kebutuhan anak. Apabila anak mengalami alergi susu, Anda bisa memberikan susu nabati sebagai alternatif minuman sehat.

Berikan jus alami. Salah satu alternatif minuman sehat bagi anak adalah jus buah. Namun hindari memberikan jus buah kemasan pada anak karena mengandung gula yang tinggi. Sebaiknya buatkan jus yang diolah dari buah alami dan minim tambahan gula.

Perbanyak air putih. Air putih adalah minuman yang menyehatkan, namun anak-anak terkadang tidak tertarik untuk minum air putih. Untuk mengatasinya, Anda bisa menyajikan infused water untuk memperkaya rasa.
