Di Indonesia, salah satu masalah kesehatan yang sering dialami anak-anak adalah cacingan. Cacingan umumnya dialami pada anak berusia 5-10 tahun. Meskipun termasuk penyakit ringan, namun jika tidak ditangani dengan benar dapat memicu kondisi yang serius karena dapat menghambat tumbuh kembang anak. Untuk itu, yuk cari tahu penyebab anak cacingan dan cara pencegahannya!

 

Penyebab anak cacingan

Usia anak-anak merupakan usia yang rentan terkena cacingan. Penyebab utamanya adalah adanya parasit yang hidup di dalam usus. Parasit ini biasanya berbentuk cacing kremi atau cacing pita yang masuk ke dalam tubuh dan tinggal di usus. Cacingan sering terjadi di tempat ramai, sanitasi buruk dan kualitas air yang kurang baik.

 

Selain itu, kebiasaan anak-anak saat bermain juga dapat berkembang menjadi penyebab anak cacingan, yaitu:

 

  1. Lupa cuci tangan sebelum makan

Salah satu penyebab anak cacingan adalah tidak mencuci tangan sebelum makan. Akibatnya, banyak risiko telur cacing yang ada di kuku anak masuk ke mulut bersama dengan makanan. Untuk itu, ajarkan si kecil untuk rajin mencuci tangan sebelum makan atau setelah bermain di tempat kotor untuk mencegah cacingan.

 

  1. Main di tempat kotor

Usia anak-anak adalah usia paling suka bermain, termasuk bermain di perairan kotor seperti pinggir sungai atau selokan. Lokasi ini merupakan tempat hidupnya cacing hati atau cacing kandung kemih penyebab cacingan. Apalagi jika anak-anak bermain di area tersebut tanpa menggunakan alas kaki dan tidak membersihkan diri dengan baik. Larva kedua cacing tersebut dapat berenang masuk melalui permukaan kulit dan menyebabkan cacingan. 

 

  1. Makan makanan yang tidak higienis

Anak-anak terkadang tidak memperhatikan jajanan atau makanan yang mereka makan. Kadang anak-anak tetap menyantap makanan yang mungkin sudah dihinggapi lalat. Padahal, lalat adalah hewan yang dapat membawa telur cacing dan bakteri lainnya. Bila makanan tersebut masuk ke dalam perut, maka cacing akan berkembang biak di saluran pencernaan. 

 

  1. Makan makanan yang tidak matang sempurna

Si kecil penggemar makanan daging? Untuk menghindari cacingan, pastikan daging sudah dimasak dengan matang sempurna sebelum disantap oleh anak-anak. Pasalnya, daging yang kurang matang berisiko mengandung telur cacing pita yang masih hidup yang jika dimakan dapat berisiko menetasnya cacing pita di dalam usus.

 

Cara mencegah anak cacingan

Cacingan pada anak dapat diatasi dengan memberikan obat cacing setiap 6 bulan sekali dan menerapkan pola hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS) seperti berikut ini: 

  1. Rajin mencuci tangan dengan sabun 

Terdengar sepele, namun rajin mencuci tangan dengan sabun memiliki banyak sekali manfaat bagi kesehatan. Biasakan anak untuk mencuci tangan dengan benar menggunakan sabun untuk memutus penyebaran telur cacing. Ajarkan anak untuk cuci tangan setelah bermain di luar, memegang hewan peliharaan, setelah buang air besar dan buang air kecil serta sebelum makan. 

 

  1. Rajin potong kuku

Anak dengan kuku pendek memiliki risiko lebih rendah untuk cacingan dibanding anak yang membiarkan kukunya panjang. Untuk itu biasakan memotong kuku secara rutin demi menjaga kebersihan tangan anak.

 

  1. Kurangi kebiasaan menggigit kuku

Kebiasaan menggigit kuku bisa jadi penyebab anak cacingan. Hentikan kebiasaan ini terutama jika anak kerap main di tempat kotor dan memiliki kuku panjang.
